Maritime Cadet Charged in Drunken Crowd Crash
A 21-year-old Mass. Maritime cadet is facing drunken driving charges after police and school officials say he drove his car into a crowd of people, hitting one fellow student before backing into two other people and then fleeing the scene. Max Yerger — identified by school president Admiral Richard Gurnon as a junior at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy — is accused of being drunk when police say he hit and injured three people in an early morning crash near the school, including a 32-year-old woman who was flown to Tufts Medical Center with potentially life-threatening injures and two fellow 21-year-old cadets.
