Realtor Missing; Man Arrested

Police arrested Aaron Lewis in connection with the disappearance of Arkansas Realtor Beverly Carter, police say. The Little Rock Police Department made the arrest, said Lt. Carl Minden with the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office. On Sunday, police issued an arrest warrant for Lewis, 33, of Jacksonville, Arkansas, saying he was wanted for a suspected kidnapping. The warrant provided no other details. Carter went to show a home in the city of Scott on Thursday. Then, she vanished. Read more...

Atlanta School Cheating Trial Begins

The criminal trial of a dozen public school educators opened with prosecutors alleging that the teachers and administrators had engaged in a "widespread, cleverly disguised" conspiracy to cheat on standardized test scores in an effort to protect their jobs and win favor and bonuses from administrators. Wife Convicted of Insurance Murder

A Keller, Texas woman accused in the death of her husband was found guilty of murder and now faces life in prison. Jurors took nearly seven hours to convict Michele Williams, 45, for the 2011 fatal shooting of her husband Greg, 40. Prosecutors said Williams killed her husband in order to collect insurance money. Daughter Gets Life in Foster Mom's Stabbing

A northeast Ohio teenager who killed her foster mother in 2012 at her foster father's urging has been sentenced to life in prison with a chance for parole in 30 years. Sabrina Zunich, 19, pleaded guilty last month to aggravated murder in the stabbing death of 41-year-old Lisa Knoefel in their home in the Cleveland suburbs. Zunich testified at the trial of Kevin Knoefel that he'd threatened suicide if his wife wasn't killed. Zunich and the now 44-year-old Kevin Knoefel were romantically involved. Read more...

Man Arrested in Murder of Nicole Burgess

Police have arrested a man for the March 2013 murder of Nicole Burgess of Davidsonville. They believe she and her killer had a relationship rooted in the drug business. Anne Arundel County Police released a photo of 37-year-old Terrence Robert Proctor of Hyattsville, Md. He is charged with first-degree murder, second-degree Murder, and manslaughter. Read more...

1st Grade Teacher Arrested on Drug Charges

A Monroe County teacher was arrested on Thursday for drug possession charges. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says Emily Pennington was pulled over for going 25 miles over the speed limit in a school zone, as well as a suspicion of DUI. Deputies say Pennington was driving 50 mph in a 25 mph school zone. Warrants say deputies had reason to believe she was under the influence of a narcotic when they pulled her over. Read more...

Amanda Bynes Arrested for DUI

Amanda Bynes is in trouble with the law once again. Authorities say the actress has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of a drug. The former Nickelodeon star was arrested by the California Highway Patrol in the Van Nuys neighborhood of Los Angeles. Jail records show Bynes was released hours later after posting $15,000 bail. Matthew Extradicted Back to Virginia

The man charged with abducting a missing University of Virginia student is back in Charlottesville after being arrested in Texas. Capt. Aaron Carver of the Albermarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail confirmed that the suspect is in custody there. Authorities have charged 32-year-old Jesse Leroy Matthew Jr. with abduction with intent to defile Hannah Graham, an 18-year-old sophomore from northern Virginia who has been missing since Sept. 13. Doctor Convicted in Lover's Poisoning

A cancer researcher in Texas was convicted of aggravated assault for poisoning her colleague, who was also her lover, by lacing his coffee with a sweet-tasting chemical found in antifreeze. Dr. Ana Maria Gonzalez-Angulo, 43, a breast cancer doctor based at Houston's famed Texas Medical Center, had been involved in a sexual relationship with her fellow researcher, Dr. George Blumenschein. Man Pleads Guilty to Attempted Kidnapping

A man accused of trying to kidnap an 8-year-old girl in Aurora, Colorado last October has pleaded guilty. Johnathan Snorsky, 27, entered his plea in court on first-degree burglary and second-degree kidnapping charges. According to the station, police say on Oct. 28, 2013 Snorsky pulled the girl out of her bedroom window. Detectives say the girl told him she doesn't talk to strangers, and that Snorsky responded, "I know your parents." Read more...

Ferguson Cop Shooters Sought

A search for two suspects in a St. Louis suburb that's undergone racial unrest continued after a Ferguson police officer was shot in the arm following an encounter with two men at a community center who ran from him and then opened fire during a foot chase, authorities said. Miami Nightclub Shooting Wounds 15

A shooting sent terrified patrons scrambling from a Miami nightclub and left 15 people wounded, including an 11-year-old child, authorities said. When Miami police and rescue crews arrived at a club called The Spot around 1 a.m., they said they found chaos among the large throng of adults and teenagers gathered there. New Mexico Sheriff Convicted of Abuse

A northern New Mexico sheriff who has fought off accusations of misconduct throughout his career was convicted of abusing a driver during a bizarre traffic stop that prosecutors called a fit of road rage. Rio Arriba County Sheriff Thomas Rodella, sitting in the defendant's chair rather than on the side of the law, and his family were visibly upset when jurors convicted him of pulling his gun on a driver and violating the 26-year-old's civil rights. Boy, 5, Test Positive for Cocaine

Cocaine was found in the system of a 5-year-old boy whose parents had been arrested on drug charges in Moorpark, according to the Ventura County sheriff's office. Authorities say that when Marco and Sandy Cuevas were stopped and arrested in the east Ventura County community, a half-pound of cocaine was sitting in the back seat -- along with their young son. Marco Cuevas had several ounces of cocaine on him, and his wife Cuevas was carrying more than $10,000 in suspected drug proceeds, according to the sheriff's office. Read more...

Charles Whitman's Rifle Auctioned

A rifle used in the 1966 sniper rampage at the University of Texas that left 16 people dead and dozens more wounded is being sold in an online auction. Bids are starting at $25,000 for a rifle Charles Whitman used to shoot from the top of a clock tower on the campus in Austin. Donald Weiss of Dallas said that he's helping the owner of the Remington 700 sell the weapon, which has changed ownership several times over the decades. Florida Fugitive Found After 20 Years

Palm Beach County deputies have made an arrest in a nearly 20-year-old murder case. Detectives arrested 47-year-old Antonio Calvillo in the 1995 death of 27-year-old Shirley Laseter of Belle Glade. A warrant was issued for Calvillo's arrest less than two weeks after Laseter's death, but police said he had fled for Mexico. He was located last week in San Francisco. Read more...

Woman Kills to Steal Newborn

A Tennessee woman was charged with murder after gunning down a northwest Georgia woman because she wanted the woman's newborn baby, a sheriff said. Catherine Goins lured 30-year-old Natalia Roberts to a friend's home in Ringgold, Ga. earlier this month by saying she wanted to give the new mother some baby clothes, said Catoosa County Sheriff Gary Sisk. 3 Charged With Beating Gay Couple

Three young adults charged with beating a gay couple during a night out on the town in Philadelphia have been released on bail. 24-year-old Philip Williams of Warminster, 24-year-old Kathryn Knott of Southampton and 26-year-old Kevin Harrigan of Warrington left the police department's Central Detectives division. Breastfeeding Junkie's Baby Dies

The North Dakota mother accused of killing her 4-day-old child by snorting the powerful pain reliever hydrocodone and then breastfeeding the infant pleaded not guilty in a Fargo, N.D., court. Reanne Pederson, 32, of West Fargo, faces five years in prison on negligent homicide charges after she got high June 13 and then breastfed her son Avery. Man Gets 4 DUIs in 2 Days

A Rhode Island man was charged with driving drunk four times in less than two days, reports CBS affiliate WPRI. Providence police arrested 53-year-old John Lourenco on Sunday. He was then arrested three more times on Monday. Three of those arrests came after he crashed his car into either another car or a tree. The first three times Lourenco was arrested he was released to the custody of his parents. After the fourth time, he was finally held for arraignment. Read more...

A suspicious person report by a citizen near Galveston, Texas lead to the arrest of the only suspect in the case of missing University of Virginia student Hannah Graham. Jesse Matthew was taken into custody without incidence by police on a beach in Gilcrest. The 32-year-old Matthew will be extradited to Virginia to face abduction with intent to defile charges. A prosecutor says he won't seek the death penalty for a Georgia man whose toddler son died after he was left in a hot vehicle. Justin Ross Harris faces multiple charges, including malice murder, felony murder and cruelty to children. The malice murder charge indicates prosecutors intend to prove Harris intentionally left his 22-month-old son Cooper to die in the hot car. Authorities say a man who is suspected of killing his parents and setting their house on fire in New Hampshire is believed to be in the Tampa Bay, Florida, area. One of four people accused of strangling two men for money to buy cigarettes and alcohol in Joliet, Ill. last year waived his right to a jury trial Monday. A cousin of former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez has been sentenced to two years of probation after pleading guilty to contempt for refusing to testify before the grand jury that indicted Hernandez in the 2012 killings of two Boston men. UPS Gunman Had Been Fired

The man who killed two people and himself inside a UPS warehouse in Alabama had been fired from the company just a day earlier and one victim had been a supervisor at the facility, police said. The two victims have not been named, but the gunman has been identified by the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office as Kerry Joe Tesney. The gunman was wearing a UPS uniform when he opened fire Tuesday morning either in or near some offices inside the warehouse in an industrial area just north of the Birmingham airport. Read more...

Body of Stephanie Low Found

Police in north-central Wisconsin say they have found the body of a woman missing for nearly four years. Police Chief Jeff Hardel said Monday that the body of Stephanie Low was found Friday in a shallow grave in the national forest near Wabeno, about 80 miles northeast of the Wausau apartment where Low vanished on Oct. 10, 2010. Mall Shooting Suspects Believed Killed

Police say two men suspected in a mall shooting were found dead a short time later in a crashed vehicle that matched the description of their car. Kissimmee police said that officers responded to shots being fired at the Osceola Square Mall's Ross Dress For Less store. As officers arrived to the scene, they spotted a vehicle that matched the description of the suspects' vehicle. It took more than five years, but a parking enforcement officer in New York managed to skim more than $89,000 in quarters. Jeffrey Daday, 36, of North Salem, pleaded guilty to stealing 356,000 quarters while working as a meter cop in Mount Kisco. A paranoid former drug addict felt compelled to confess to a murder he committed 17 years ago after receiving unrelated phone calls and mail from Walmart. Matthew Gibson, 55, became alarmed in June after someone from the retailer called to tell him a prescription for someone he did not know was ready. Officials investigating the disappearance of University of Virginia student Hannah Graham focused Monday on the man they believe was the last person seen with her, searching his apartment for a second time and trying to locate the campus employee to arrest him on reckless driving charges. Jesse Leroy Matthew Jr., 32, a patient technician in the operating room at the university's medical center, hasn't been charged in the disappearance, but authorities say they want to talk to him about Graham, 18, who disappeared 9 days ago. Texas Solider Beat Daughter to Death

El Paso police have charged a Fort Bliss soldier with capital murder after they say he beat his 2-year-old daughter to death because she soiled her diaper. Police Det. Mike Baranyay says 20-year-old Dartarious Graham was arrested. He says the U.S. Army specialist beat his daughter, Peyton Graham, with a belt. When firefighters were called to the home, they found her unresponsive. She was taken to an area hospital where she later died. Read more...

Man Charged in Stabbing of Son

A man found standing on a front lawn in South L.A. covered in blood was charged with murder in the stabbing death of his 6-year-old son. Alejandro Santoyo Sanchez, 38, was charged with one count of murder and assault on a child causing death, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney's office. Sanchez was also charged with special allegations that he personally used a deadly and dangerous weapon, a knife, in the commission of a crime. Warrant Issued for Robert Durst

An arrest warrant has been issued for a real estate heir who admitted killing his neighbor in Texas a decade ago, because he failed to show up for a New York City court appearance. Robert Durst's lawyer Steven Rabinowitz said his 73-year-old client is in Texas and unable to travel for undisclosed medical reasons. The brother of the man charged with the murder of Tennessee nursing student Holly Bobo has been arrested in connection with the case and charged with tampering with evidence. John Dylan Adams, brother of Zach Adams, was being held without bond in the Madison County jail. Woman's Body Found in Drum

The body of a Michigan woman who had been missing for three months has been found inside a concrete-filled 55-gallon plastic drum. Theresa DeKeyzer's body was found at a storage facility in Detroit. The 22-year-old had been missing since June 16 when her 37-year-old boyfriend Scott Wobbe, the last person to see her alive, said he dropped her off four blocks from her home. Read more...

Cop Killer's Rifle Found

Authorities have had no confirmed sightings of the alleged gunman who is accused of a deadly ambush at a police barracks 10 days ago, but they say they have found an assault rifle he was carrying and believe they are hot on his trail in the dense northeastern Pennsylvania woods. Investigators said that the suspect they describe as a self-taught survivalist had been planning a confrontation with law enforcement for months, if not years, and they believe he is still armed and dangerous, and possibly concealing himself in self-built bunkers. Police in Alabama are searching for the person who killed 8-year-old Haiwayi Robinson, whose body was found a few miles from her home. A 5-year-old boy whose mother allegedly poisoned him to death with salt had been diagnosed with elevated sodium levels prior to his first birthday, but hospital staff reportedly did not share this suspected abuse with authorities. The paper reportedly obtained a copy of Garnett Spears' child fatality report which contains Alabama medical records showing there was concern about the "emotional stability" of the boy's mother, 26-year-old Lacey Spears, as many as five years ago. Couple Confesses in Socialite's Murder

Indonesian authorities say Chicago native Tommy Schaefer admitted that he killed his girlfriend's mother while the family vacationed last month at the upscale St. Regis resort in Bali. Schaefer's girlfriend, Heather Mack, who is three months pregnant, has also confessed to witnessing her mother's murder and helping to dispose of her body, police in Bali said. Federal prosecutors have charged the couple accused of kidnapping two young Amish sisters in northern New York with sexual exploitation of children and possession of child pornography. Twenty-five-year-old Nicole Vaisey and 39-year-old and Stephen Howells Jr. have already pleaded not guilty to state kidnapping charges. Authorities in Canada have arrested a 20-year-old man accused of the first murder in the history of Sammamish, Wash., a suburb of Seattle. Officers arrested Kevin Patterson in a hotel in Abbotsford, British Columbia, almost 12 hours after a man's body was found Wednesday in the Sammamish home where neighbors said the suspect had been living. Man Flees Attempted Murder Trial

A man convicted of second-degree attempted murder fled the courtroom Thursday afternoon into downtown Minneapolis and hasn't been found. Michael David Henderson, 25, of Minneapolis, was on trial for charges related to a violent armed robbery at the Bloomington Sam's Club in March, according to court documents. Jonathan Dwyer Head-Butted His Wife

Arizona Cardinals running back Jonathan Dwyer head-butted his wife and broke her nose after she refused his sexual advances, and punched her in the face the next day, police said. The details surfaced in a law enforcement report a day after Dwyer was arrested on aggravated assault charges and deactivated from all team activities. Washed-up model Dara Tomanovich catwalked into Manhattan Criminal Court where a judge offered her a slap-on-the-wrist plea deal for her DWI crash last year at which she ranted about her connections. Texas Executes Child Killer

A Texas woman convicted of the starvation and torture death of her girlfriend's 9-year-old son a decade ago was executed Wednesday. Lisa Coleman, 38, received a lethal injection after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected a last-day appeal to spare her. Man Guilty in Clemson Murder Trial

A 20-year-old man will spend most of the rest of his life in prison, and a family continues to grieve the loss of a son following a jury's murder conviction in the slaying of a Clemson University student almost two years ago. A judge sentenced Lester Devaria Mosley Jr. to 50 years in prison after a jury convicted him of murder in the death of Steven Grich in December 2012. A six-man, six-woman jury deliberated about 90 minutes before finding Mosley guilty of murder, first-degree burglary, two counts of attempted armed robbery and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Mom's Boyfriend Charged in Girl's Murder

A Florida grand jury has indicted a suspect in the July murder of 16-year-old Alexandria Chery. Sanel Saint Simon, 43, Chery's mother's live-in boyfriend, faces charges of first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse and giving false information to law enforcement. Pharmacy Tech Stole Pills

A drug store technician is accused of stealing prescription medications and selling them to alleged drug dealers. Police were called to a CVS Pharmacy in Gonzalez, La., after a worker conducted an audit and became suspicious that employee Shantrell Landry had stolen hydrocodone and Alprazolam pills. FSU Student's Killer Sentenced to Death

An escaped Louisiana inmate convicted of killing a college grad student in northeast Florida has been sentenced to death. Following a jury's recommendation, a St. Johns County judge sentenced 43-year-old Kentrell Feronti Johnson. He was previously convicted of first-degree murder and kidnapping. Authorities say 29-year-old Vincent Binder, who was studying at Florida State University, was found dead in an open field near Interstate 95 in April 2010 several weeks after he went missing. Missing Indiana Mom's Body Found

Police say the SUV belonging to a southwestern Indiana woman missing for a month has been pulled from a lake with a body presumed to be hers inside. The Warrick County Sheriff's Department says the SUV owned by 27-year-old Kristy Kelley of Boonville was detected by a private sonar search group in a small lake a couple miles south of Boonville. Cardinals Cut Dwyer for Violence

An Arizona Cardinals running back became the NFL’s latest embarrassment after his arrest for assaulting his wife and throwing a shoe at their 18-month-old son. Phoenix police nabbed Jonathan Dwyer, 25, a five-year player who came over this season from Pittsburgh, on charges of aggravated assault stemming from separate incidents in July. Trooper Shooting Suspect Named

The suspect in the killing of a trooper and the critical wounding of another outside a rural barracks is a survivalist who has expressed a desire to kill law enforcement officers and commit mass murder, state police said. Eric Matthew Frein, 31, of Canadensis, Pennsylvania, is still armed with the .308-caliber rifle that he used to open fire on the barracks late Friday, State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan said. 'Baby Kate' Murder Charge Dropped

A judge has dismissed a murder charge against a Michigan man accused of killing his missing daughter, who was 4 months old when she disappeared. Mason County District Judge Peter Wadel in Ludington threw out the open murder charge against 24-year-old Sean Phillips. Katherine Phillips disappeared in 2011 in the Ludington area, about 80 miles northwest of Grand Rapids. Body Found in Missing Woman's Car

Miami police have discovered an unidentified body in the trunk of a car of a South Florida woman who vanished a week ago. Police haven't said whether or not the body is that of Tanya Gonzalez, 28, who was last seen last Sept. 9 at a Miami shopping center. Boyfriend Buys Shovel With Victim's Card

The Florida father accused of running off with his autistic son after killing his ex-girlfriend and her family shot and bludgeoned his victims to death — and then buried them with a shovel he bought with one of their debit cards, police say. Pasco County officials charged Adam Matos with four counts of first-degree murder. He made his first court appearance where a judge denied him bail. Man Fatally Shoots Daughter's Boyfriend

Police said a 32-year-old man was fatally shot by his girlfriend's father after he climbed through a window to visit her. The girlfriend, 20, lives with her 41-year-old father at an apartment complex in Northeast Philadelphia, according to the station. No one involved in the incident has been identified by authorities. Montana Man Accused of Assaulting 4 Women

A Montana man assaulted four women in five instances over the past six months, causing injuries that required medical care and left one woman hospitalized for six days with a brain injury and a collapsed lung, prosecutors said. A psychology professor pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in a deal with prosecutors for the 1995 killing of a man she says raped her. Several television stations are seeking less restrictive camera coverage of Jodi Arias' planned Sept. 29 penalty phase retrial. Arias' first trial was broadcast live, but the judge denied that right this time around, ruling that no footage could be broadcast until after the final verdict. Corpus Christi police say a man has been arrested after three people were killed and a child was injured in a shooting at a trailer park in Texas. The suspect is 63-year-old Sammuel Toomey. Ohio Man Pleads Not Guilty to 4 Murders

A man has pleaded not guilty to aggravated murder, robbery and other charges in the deaths of four men at their homes in a small Ohio city. Donald Hoffman, 41, is charged on 21 counts for the slayings in Bucyrus discovered earlier this month. Some counts include specifications for a potential death penalty. Police say they believe two young children who've been missing in suburban Maryland for more than a week are dead, and they're pursuing a homicide case against their mother. Officials are searching for a University of Virginia student last seen over the weekend. Hannah Elizabeth Graham, 18, was last seen between 11 p.m. Friday night and 1 a.m. Saturday morning near the Camden Plaza Apartments in Charlottesville. A tutor has been arrested during a science lesson, after a raid on her home uncovered a stash of methamphetamine, marijuana and prescription drugs. And no, her name is not Walter White. Haivan Bui was also in possession of date rape chemical gamma-hydroxybutyrate. A recipe on how to use the compound was found in her backpack when officers took her into custody. Miami QB Kevin Olsen Arrested

Miami Hurricanes backup quarterback Kevin Olsen has been suspended from team activities after he was charged with driving under the influence and having a fake or stolen driver's license. Police say Olsen failed field sobriety tests and had five different driver's licenses on him. The redshirt freshman got into trouble even before he set foot on the Miami campus. Body of Missing Student Found

Police believe they have found the remains of a North Carolina college student 11 days after she first disappeared. Boone police reported Saturday they believe a body found Saturday morning near Appalachian State University is Anna Smith. Authorities said her driver's license and school ID were found near the body in the wooded area. Police said the 18-year-old freshman history major from High Point was in personal crisis and was "anguished" when she was last seen taking a van to a school dorm the night of Sept. 2. Woman Held After 3 Dead Babies Found

A woman who lived at a squalid, vermin-infested home where the bodies of three infants were found this week was arraigned on charges including fetal death concealment and ordered held without bail as the search for more possible bodies continued. Detectives investigating a case of reckless endangerment of children found the bodies at a house in Blackstone, about 50 miles southwest of Boston, littered with soiled diapers. Missing 2-Year-Old's Body Found

Police in Texas are investigating the murder of a 2-year-old boy whose body was found in a shallow grave. The discovery came two days after police were sent photos of the child suggesting he had been the victim of abuse. Police found the grave after searching a field in southeast Austin for several hours. The boy’s mother Meagan Work told investigators she last saw the boy in July. Man Charged With Strangling Girlfriend

A 28-year-old Anchorage man told his brother he had strangled his girlfriend, and when his brother said he intended to call police, the man drove off with the body in the back seat of his car, police said. A short time later, David Joseph Thomas called police himself and was found with the car and the body of Linda Anne Martz Bower, 19, in the parking lot of a pharmacy. 1973 Escapee Returned to N.C.

A fugitive captured in Iowa after decades on the run is returning to North Carolina, where he escaped from prison in 1973. North Carolina officers were transporting 69-year-old Ronald Carnes from a county jail in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to a prison in Raleigh. Five teens have been arrested in connection with an alleged high school shooting plot in Washington state. Apollo Nida was expected to report to a federal prison in Lexington, Ky. by noon Sept. 10, but was tweeting and using Instagram as recently as 3 a.m. Sept. 11. A mother and son who San Francisco prosecutors say lied to the state Department of Motor Vehicles to obtain disabled parking passes have been sentenced to three years of probation and 1,000 hours of community service. 29-year-old Guobin Qin and 50-year-old Qiaoyun Chen were sentenced after pleading guilty to felony forgery. Pastor Sentenced in 1st Wife's Death

A former Pennsylvania pastor already serving life without parole for bludgeoning his second wife to death in 2008 was sentenced to 20 to 40 years in the 1999 death of his first wife. Arthur "A.B." Schirmer was sentenced in Lebanon County after pleading no contest in June to third-degree murder. Schirmer, 66, a former Methodist clergyman, had long claimed he was out for a run on April 23, 1999, when he returned home to find the body of 50-year-old Jewel Schirmer, his wife of 31 years, in a pool of blood at the bottom of the basement steps. Two Indianapolis police officers who were off duty at a bar drinking shots with a pregnant bartender beat up a patron who began arguing with the woman, an affidavit said. John Serban and Michael Reiger face felony battery charges over the Aug. 7 incident, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said. According to the probable cause affidavit, 29-year-old patron Bradford Bohanon was put in a chokehold, kicked and had his face ground into the pavement outside the bar, and the officers went back inside afterward and resumed drinking. A suspected serial bank robber has struck again in Southern California, the ninth time in a year. Authorities said the most recent heist took place Monday around 3 p.m. at a U.S. Bank in Laguna Niguel, Orange County, just one hour after the male suspect reportedly tried to rob a bank in North San Diego. Man Shot Brother Over $2 Debt

Caddo Parish sheriff's deputies are investigating a shooting involving two brothers. Sheriff Steve Prator says deputies and Vivian police responded to a call at the Monterey Hills Apartments. Officers found 28-year-old LaMichael Watson suffering from a wound to the abdomen. Det. Remains Found in Holly Bobo's County

Authorities are investigating possible human remains in the county where a Tennessee nursing student disappeared in 2011. Tennessee Bureau of Investigation spokesman Josh DeVine said investigators were in Decatur County, the same county where 20-year-old Holly Bobo disappeared from her family's home in Parsons. According to media reports, a skull was found not far from property owned by the family of Zach Adams, who is charged with kidnapping and murder in the Bobo case. Read more...

Two Charged in Kansas Cop's Death

Authorities have arrested two men in connection with the fatal shooting of a Kansas police officer. Topeka Police Cpl. Jason Harwood, 40, was killed Sunday during a car stop in east Topeka. The Shawnee County Sheriff's Office said 30-year-old Ross Preston Lane has acknowledged some involvement in the shooting of the decorated law enforcement officer. Missing Indiana Mom Found

A southwest Indiana sheriff says authorities believe an Evansville woman missing nearly two months was held captive under terrible conditions in a mobile home. A couple is now under arrest in the case. Joelle Lockwood, a mother of two, has been missing since July 9. She was discovered alive in the mobile home in Posey County, west of Evansville. Lockwood was held against her will and spent time locked in a wooden cage. Read more...

4th Florida Student Attacked

Police are looking for a man suspected of tackling a woman who was walking on the University of Florida campus, the fourth assault on a female at the school in recent days. The student kicked the man and he ran off. The woman, who was not injured, called police. University police spokesman Maj. W. Va. Man Charged in 3 Murders

A West Virginia man has been charged in three unsolved Alexandria, Va., murders spanning over a decade. Alexandria police announced that Charles Severance, 53, is charged with murder in the deaths of Ruthanne Lodato, Ron Kirby and Nancy Dunning. The victims were shot on separate occasions with a small-caliber weapon. All three were killed just inside the front door of their homes. Read more...

Couple Charged in Fatal Home Invasion

Two people are facing charges of first-degree murder in a fatal home invasion robbery in Chicago that left a resident and one of the robbers' alleged accomplices dead. Miran Cerimagic, Orhan Cerimagic and Brittney Mitchell are accused of breaking into a home in the Norwood Park area of the city. Two people have been arrested following a deadly shooting at an apartment complex in Alaska. Jerel Williams, 26, is charged with first-degree murder, first-degree robbery and two counts of second-degree murder in the death of 22-year-old Christopher Fulton, Jr. in Anchorage. A 24-year-old mother has been charged in Prince George County for allegedly killing her two children in a double homicide. Police were called to a Cheverly home around 2 a.m. Upon arrival, authorities found a 1-year-old and a 3-year-old not breathing. An 11-year-old north suburban girl is dead, apparently the victim of child abuse and her mother is charged with murder. The girl was found dead in the 300 block of Gillett in Waukegan. What took place inside the Waukegan home is something police say is the most tragic thing they have seen in years. Woman Left for Dead in Park

Authorities are trying to determine who attacked a woman in a Dallas, Texas park and left her for dead. The victim, who is in her 50s, was in critical condition when she was transported to Baylor University Medical Center after two passers-by discovered her nude and on the ground in Opportunity Park. Detectives are hoping the woman gets better so they can interview her and possibly develop a lead in the case. Read more...

Shooting Suspect Found Under Bed

Police in North Carolina arrested a 20-year-old suspect they found hiding under a bed after he allegedly got into a fight and fatally shot another man. Troyshawn Nicholas Williams, 20, was arrested and charged with murder. Officers were called to a home in Statesville, 40 miles north of Charlotte, just after midnight on Friday, according to the station. Once there, they found Keith Levan Keaton Jr., who had been shot in the chest. He was rushed to Iredell Memorial Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Read more...

Nurse Sentenced for Daughter's Abortion Pills

A Pennsylvania mother has been sentenced to up to 18 months in prison for giving her pregnant teen daughter illegally obtained abortion pills. Jennifer Ann Whalen, 39, pleaded guilty in August to violating state law that requires doctors to perform abortions. Whalen is a register nurse who works at a nursing home, but she did not have the medical insurance to cover a hospital stay for her 16-year-old daughter's procedure. Read more...

A Georgia man who said he forgot to drop his son off and daycare and drove to work instead has been indicted on eight counts by a grand jury. Justin Ross Harris will face charges of malice murder, felony murder and cruelty to children. Whitey Bulger Moved to Florida Prison

Former Boston crime boss James "Whitey" Bulger (BUHL'-jur) has been transferred to a federal prison in Florida. The 85-year-old is serving two life sentences after a 2013 racketeering conviction tying him to 11 murders and other gangland crimes in the 1970s and '80s. Bulger had been incarcerated in Arizona. His attorney Hank Brennan said he hasn't been told why Bulger was moved. Bulger still faces a Florida murder charge in the 1982 killing of gambling executive John Callahan. Read more...

Shoe Prints Lead to Girl's Killer

After an eight-year-old Arizona girl was found dead in a shallow grave, police say shoeprints linked a family friend who was staying in the child's home to her murder. Justin James Rector, 26, is being held without bond at the Mohave County jail, accused of kidnapping and killing Isabella "Bella" Grogan-Cannella. Detectives discovered four bodies near a Florida home where they went to check on a 4-year-old boy autistic boy who is missing along with his father, police said. When detectives arrived at the Tampa-area hous nobody was home. But they noticed a bad smell and walked down the street toward birds circling the air. Man Charged in Wife, Stepson Deaths

Authorities in Bartlesville, Okla. say a man has been arrested for the deaths of his wife and stepson. Police Capt. Jay Hastings says officers responding to a disturbance call discovered 23-year-old Charles Edward Lee dead in the front yard of a home. An apartment laundry room became a murder scene in Joliet, Ill. Police say 20-year-old Jocelyn Woods was found dead inside the laundry room, reportedly stabbed several times. Komisarjevsky Asks for New Trial

One of two men convicted in the killings of a mother and her two daughters in a 2007 Connecticut home invasion is seeking a new trial, saying recordings of non-emergency police phone lines were withheld from the defense. Lawyers for Joshua Komisarjevsky asked the Connecticut Supreme Court last week to hold an evidentiary hearing, reverse Komisarjevsky's convictions and order a new trial. Ohio Man Charged in Teen's Slaying

Police say an Ohio man has confessed to killing a West Virginia 16-year-old girl whose body was found on August 30. Ernest Roach, 36, met Ericka Brown through a Craigslist posting, according to a release from police. Phone records revealed that Roach may have met with Brown the night before she disappeared. Man on Bike Trip Stabbed to Death

Police have made an arrest in the case of a man who was fatally stabbed while on a bike trip from Maryland to Miami. Witnesses said 28-year-old Kevin Adorno, of Hartford, Conn., was on the phone with his girlfriend when he was stabbed outside a McDonald's in Vero Beach, Fla., about 140 miles north of Miami. Police arrested 59-year-old Rene Herrera Cruz and charged him with first-degree murder. Adorno was nearing the end of a "bucket list" bicycle trip in which he planned propose to his girlfriend when he arrived in Miami. Read more...

Porch Shooter Sentenced to 17-30 Years

A suburban Detroit man was sentenced to at least 17 years in prison for killing an unarmed woman who appeared on his porch before dawn. Theodore Wafer was convicted of second-degree murder in the Nov. 2 death of Renisha McBride, 19. Before getting his sentence, the Dearborn Heights man apologized to McBride's family, saying he killed a woman who was "too young to leave this world." Read more...

She loves makeup — beyond a shadow of a doubt. An Arkansas woman was busted stuffing $144 in eye shadow inside her bag. Thirty-one-year-old Brandy Allen was arrested inside an Ulta Beauty Store on Sept. 1 and faces charges of shoplifting and disorderly conduct. Allen reportedly walked into the Fayetteville store with another woman who acted as bait. The accomplice asked employees questions about products in an attempt to distract them away from Allen. David Cassidy Admits DWI

Seventies heartthrob David Cassidy has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated in upstate New York. Cassidy was charged last summer in the town of Schodack, near Albany. He pleaded guilty in exchange for a tentative sentence of a conditional discharge that includes 50 hours of community service in Florida, his home state. 1983 Murder Convictions Overturned

A North Carolina judge overturned the convictions Tuesday of two men who have served 30 years in prison for the rape and murder of an 11-year-old girl after another man's DNA was recently discovered on evidence in the case. Superior Court Judge Douglass Sasser ordered the immediate release of Henry McCollum, 50, and Leon Brown, 46. The half brothers were convicted in the 1983 slaying of Sabrina Buie in Robeson County. Friends of a pregnant woman fatally shot outside her Long Island home say she may have been targeted by an enemy of her husband. Police responding to reports of gunfire at a residence in Bay Shore, N.Y., on Saturday night found 31-year-old Milagro Canjura shot multiple times inside her car, according to the station. A bank robber known as the "No Boundaries Bandit" has been captured in Illinois following a chase with authorities. Rodrigo Medellin, 31, was arrested in Cook County on Sunday after getting into a vehicle and foot chase with officers that ended in the town of Cicero, Ill., officials said. Medellin is charged with multiple counts of armed robbery and other felonies, including aggravated assault on a police officer and aggravated fleeing and eluding police. Read more...

Max Hall Arrested on Drug Charges

Former Arizona Cardinals and BYU quarterback Max Hall was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen items and cocaine, Gilbert police said. Gilbert police were called to the Best Buy near Loop 202 and Williams Field Road after a store employee told police he saw Hall taking merchandise out of boxes and stuffing them in his backpack, according to a Gilbert police report. Spencer Ware Arrested for DUI

Former Seahawk running back Spencer Ware was arrested on suspicion of DUI this morning in Maple Valley. The case has been referred to the Maple Valley prosecutor's office. It is the second DUI arrest in nine months for Ware as he was also cited on Jan. 12. However, that case was dismissed in July after a judge ruled that the officer lacked reasonable suspicion of DUI at the time he initiated the traffic stop. Read more...

Colts' Jim Irsay Suspended Six Games

Just hours after Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay pleaded guilty to a charge of driving while intoxicated in an Indiana courtroom, he received his additional punishment from the NFL. Commissioner Roger Goodell announced a six-game suspension and a $500,000 fine for the Colts owner. After apparently two years of inactivity, the serial bank robber known as the "AK-47 Bandit" has struck again, prompting the FBI to increase the reward to $100,000 for information leading to his capture. Coach Charged in 19-Year-Old Homicide

Police have charged a Texas youth soccer trainer in connection with a 19-year-old homicide case. Chad Bujano was arrested and accused of the broad-daylight shooting of 18-year-old Kristian Gaona in 1995 on a Houston street. Investigators say Gaona was walking with friends when a sport utility vehicle approached. Its occupants harassed Gaona and someone inside the vehicle eventually began shooting. Read more...

Marist Grad Charged in Mother's Murder

Murder charges have been filed against a Marist College graduate who allegedly stabbed and beat his mother to death. Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli said bail was set at $2 million for 24-year-old Nicholas Piotti of Ho-Ho-Kus, who was taken into custody and was then taken to a hospital. Police Shoot Portland Carjacker

Police in Portland, Oregon, say an officer shot a man who was a pointing a gun at passing cars on an Interstate 84 offramp. Sgt. Pete Simpson says the man ran from the freeway after he was struck by a bullet, and he collapsed on a nearby street. Police negotiators got the man to surrender, and he was taken to a hospital with an injury that's not considered life-threatening. Read more...

The man wanted by police for abducting a 17-year-old girl has been arrested. Dewayne Thompson, 19, was taken into custody Monday. An elementary school principal has been suspended after being charged with buying crack cocaine. Murfreesboro Police arrested 58-year-old Donnie Johnson after officers reported seeing him buy the drugs on multiple occasions. Police are investigating a woman's death as a homicide after her 14-year-old daughter discovered her body yesterday in the family's backyard. Police say 40-year-old Amanda Russell was found Thursday afternoon. A homicide squad in New York is investigating the death of a pregnant woman found with multiple gunshot wounds inside her car. Her unborn child didn't survive, either. Suffolk County police say they responded to a call of gunshots and found 31-year-old Milagro G. Canjura unresponsive outside her home in Bay Shore on Long Island. An armed man who prompted a fatal police-involved shooting at an Orlando, Fla. nightclub is now facing first-degree murder charges in the death of a woman who was struck by an officer's stray bullet. The armed man, Kody Roach, 23, was wounded by police gunfire in the August 19 incident, which occurred at Vixen Bar. Roach, who remains hospitalized, was initially arrested on charges of carrying a concealed firearm. Police say fingerprints left on Legos 23 years ago helped solve the cold case homicide of Holladay, Utah grandmother Lucille Johnson. Heather Randol said officers responded to reports of violence around 2:45 a.m., in an upscale neighborhood. A Chippewa Falls man whose daughter nearly died after eating a marijuana-laced chocolate bar faces three criminal charges. 38-year-old Jason N. Hetke is charged with felony second-degree reckless endangerment. He's also charged with two misdemeanors — child neglect and possession of marijuana. Prosecutors say the girl seemed intoxicated in school after eating an entire marijuana chocolate bar from Colorado. A school official and police officer were barely able to detect a pulse.
