Remains of 2 Found in Woods

Two sets of human remains were discovered during a search of a wooded area in Massachusetts and at least one of the bodies, that of a young woman, had been dismembered, authorities said. Based on the conditions of the remains, the two bodies had been there for different periods of time, Plymouth District Attorney Timothy Cruz said. The remains were taken to the state medical examiner to try to determine their identities and the cause and manner of death, Cruz said, adding that anyone aware of missing loved ones should contact state police immediately. Amber Alert Suspect Found Dead

An Amber Alert issued for a 14-month-old Houston, Texas boy has been cancelled after he was found safe in Arkansas. The child's father, who was a person of interest in the case, was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Houston Police said Tyemetheus Pack was reported missing after his mother, Angel Jackson, was found dead in their northwest Houston apartment. Read more...

Body May Be Missing Teen

Authorities say a body found in the desert west of Phoenix is believed to be that of a missing 15-year-old Buckeye, Ariz. girl and say she was shot in the head. The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office also said the 17-year-old boyfriend of Leah Costa was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder and other charges. The boyfriend also faces potential charges of burglary and assault with a deadly weapon stemming from a home invasion in Tonopah on Dec. 26. Read more...

Pregnant Woman Missing Since Dec. 26

Authorities are searching for a missing pregnant Ohio woman who was last seen early Friday morning and whose car was found abandoned, with no gas and a dead battery. Shasta Himelrick, 20, was last seen on surveillance video walking into a gas station in rural Richmond Dale, roughly 50 miles south of Columbus in Ross County, at around 3:15 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 26. Pastor Shoots Former Employee

Authorities say the pastor of a central Florida church shot and wounded an employee during a gunfight after the employee learned he was being fired. The Osceola County Sheriff's Office said that Living Water Fellowship Church Pastor Terry Howell had been meeting with maintenance worker Benjamin Parangan to terminate Parangan's employment with the Kissimmee church. Witnesses say Parangan pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots at Howell, who then returned fire with his own weapon and hit Parangan. Read more...

Boy, 2, Kills Mom in WalMart

Authorities in northern Idaho say a 2-year-old boy accidentally shot and killed his mother after he reached into her purse at a Wal-Mart store and the concealed gun fired. Kootenai County sheriff's spokesman Stu Miller tells reporters that the shooting was accidental and occurred in the store in Hayden, Idaho, a town about 40 miles northeast of Spokane, Washington. 2-Year-Old Tests Positive for Meth, Cocaine

Limestone County sheriff's deputies arrested the parents of a 2-year-old in Ardmore after the toddler tested positive for methamphetamine and cocaine. Jay Allen Montgomery and Trish Lynn Cooley, both 31, are both charged with chemical endangerment of a child. Deputies said they are in the Limestone County Jail on $20,000 bonds. The child was tested following the mother's drug-related arrest on Dec. 11. Cooley was charged with possession of a controlled substance, which court records show was oxycodone. Mom Charged in Infant's Overdose

A Fairfield woman is facing charges following an investigation into the death of her 2-month-old baby in June. Shelby Frederick, 21, was taken into custody in Vallejo and has been booked into the Solano County Jail for assault of a child causing death. Frederick is currently five months pregnant. According to the Solano County Coroner's office, the cause of the infant's death has been determined to be Acute Methamphetamine Poisoning. Read more...

2 Bodies Found in Atlanta Home

Atlanta police are searching for a suspect after finding two decomposing female bodies in an abandoned home used by squatters. Police found the bodies of Heather Camp, 33, and Nicole A. Sartell, 31, in a house in northwest Atlanta's Madrona Street. Camp's body was discovered in under a sheet a back room of the house, and Sartell was in a closet. Read more...

Minister Shot in Church Parking Lot

A minister sitting in a car in a San Diego church parking lot was grazed in the chest by a bullet that came to rest in his arm, police said. The victim was with another minister in a parked car outside Greater Apostolic Faith Temple Church, talking, when a gunman approached on foot and fired four rounds into a passenger side window, according to San Diego police Office Robert Heims. Abandoned Newborn Found Dead

Police investigators are trying to find the mother of a newborn girl found dead in a wooded area of an Indianapolis park. City police say officers were called to Eagle Creek Park by a person who found the baby's body while hiking. Police say the baby was found about 30 yards from a parking area of the park on the city's northwest side. Emergency workers pronounced the girl dead at the scene on the 3,900-acre park's northern edge. Read more...

Bishopette Blamed for Fatal Crash

The first female bishop at the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland was the driver in a hit-and-run crash that killed a bicyclist in Baltimore, a diocese spokeswoman said. Bishop Suffragan Heather Cook was driving the car that hit 41-year-old Tom Palermo, diocese spokeswoman Sharon Tillman said. Palermo died at a nearby hospital. Read more...

Drunk Cyclist Rearends Patrol Car

A Harley Davidson rider was busted for DUI after he crashed his bike into a parked Florida Highway Patrol vehicle, police said. Louis Anthony Paree was riding down West Hillsborough Ave. in Tampa when he suddenly rear-ended the patrol car. The 58-year-old decided not to hang around, however, and allegedly sped off. Police say a 24-year-old rookie police officer was killed after being shot by a domestic violence suspect, who then killed himself. Flagstaff Police Sgt. Margaret Bentzen said the shooting took place in a residential area as officers were searching for a male suspect in a domestic violence incident that had occurred earlier in the day. Read more...

Actor Charged in Bar Stabbing

Dustin Diamond, best known for playing Screech on the 1990s TV series "Saved by the Bell," has been charged with stabbing a man at a Wisconsin bar. The 37-year-old actor faces charges of felony second-degree recklessly endangering safety, disorderly conduct and carrying a concealed weapon. Woman Charged With Stabbing Grandma

The granddaughter of a woman found dying in her front yard has been charged with stabbing her to death, Maryland State Police said. Hestina Harris, 19, of Jefferson was arrested at a relative's home and charged with first-degree murder in the death of her grandmother, Lillie Morris. Troopers found Lillie Morris, 67, after getting a 911 call about someone lying in a front yard in Frederick County. Morris died while being rushed to the hospital. Read more...

Man Arrested for Murder of Father

State police arrested Nicholas A. Pascarella Jr., 39, of Clintondale for second-degree murder and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Pascarella was arraigned in Town of Marlborough Court and remanded to Ulster County Jail with no bail, police said. An investigation by state police and Marlborough police revealed that Pascarella's father, Nicholas A. Pascarella Sr. was confronted by his son in the driveway of his residence. After an altercation between the pair, Pascarella Sr. suffered head trauma and was transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital of Westchester Medical Center, where he died, police said. Police in DeKalb County, Ga., have issued an arrest warrant for a man they say shot and killed his ex-wife at her home on Christmas Eve. Jake Jackson is charged with murder in the death of Tiffanie Phillips at her home in Decatur. Jackson, who's 32, is reportedly 6'4" and weighs about 170 pounds. Missing Armored Truck Driver Arrested

An armored car driver in Texas who abandoned his vehicle and made off with $200,000 has been arrested in Colorado on theft charges, and the missing money has been recovered, police said. Trent Michael Cook, 24, was arrested at a hotel room in Colorado Springs along with a suspected accomplice. "Following a carefully orchestrated plan, the driver was contacted in a hotel room and taken into custody without incident," the statement said. Read more...

A pastor was justified in fatally shooting a 14-year-old intruder who hid in a bedroom closet and attacked him, an Oklahoma County district attorney said. Tom Vineyard, 48, of Oklahoma City, won't face charges in the shooting of Keontre Reese over the weekend. 2 Shot in Train Station

Police say three people have been wounded, two critically, in a shooting at a Chicago Transit Authority train stop. Chicago Police Department spokeswoman Amina Greer says the shooting occurred on the mezzanine level of a Red Line "El" station on the city's South Side. She says a 25-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman were shot and taken to a hospital in critical condition. A third victim, a 24-year-old man, sustained wounds to his face from glass fragments. Man Shot in Shopping Mall

Authorities say "bedlam" broke out at a suburban New Orleans shopping mall after a man was shot and killed inside a store on Christmas Eve. The shooting happened less than two hours before the Oakwood Center mall in Gretna was scheduled to close for the holiday, said Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand. The victim had just purchased something from Foot Locker and had turned from the cash register when a man walked to within three or four feet of him and began shooting, Normand said. Police say 18-year-old Jeremy Lewallen and his 42-year-old wife Carrie Carley stole displays to decorate their own yard. 5 Busted for Gun Smuggling

A New York prosecutor has announced five arrests in a brazen scheme in which guns - even an AK-47 rifle - were taken onto passenger jets for years in carry-on luggage. Brooklyn District Attorney Kenneth Thompson announced the arrests a day after charges were announced in Atlanta against an airline baggage handler. In total, the suspects are accused of trying to smuggle 153 weapons, most of which were purchased in Georgia and headed for Brooklyn, officials say. A homicide investigation was continuing into the death of an 86-year-old woman whose body was discovered in her home in the exclusive Windsor Square area. Police identified the woman as Antonia Yager, who was the wife of a retired Los Angeles Superior Court Judge who died in 2008. Baton Rouge police say the search for 4-year-old Jassiah Clark, missing since Saturday night, ended when his body was found in a deep hole about 25 feet from his home. Sgt. Mary Ann Godawa said an officer found Jassiah's body after using a flashlight to take a closer look at the hole in a vacant lot behind Jassiah's home. Police say nine people who were playing basketball at a Miami park have been injured, one critically, in a drive-by shooting. A statement from the Miami-Dade Police department says as a car approached the courts, the car's passenger opened fire. Dog-Fighting Ring Brings 22 Indictments

Authorities say they've broken up a violent, multistate dog-fighting ring involving hundreds of dogs forced into brutal combat. Authorities said that a Baltimore grand jury returned indictments against 22 people involved in the ring, 14 of whom are in custody. They're all charged with animal cruelty, dog fighting and conspiracy. The indictments came after authorities raided 18 locations in the Baltimore area and a compound in West Virginia. Read more...

Gunman Killed in Shootout With Police

A man who barricaded himself inside a Northern California home has died after firing over 100 rounds in a gunbattle with police. The Placer County Sheriff's office says the house started to burn several hours into a standoff near Auburn, and that the man was killed by officers. Lt. John Poretti says the man had been inside his house with his girlfriend when he became upset with her and attacked her with mace. The woman escaped from the house and was not injured. Read more...

Boyfriend Kills Woman, 2 Kids

A man was charged with killing his girlfriend and her two children, whose bodies were found in the mobile home they shared, state police said. Keith Coleman, of Garland, faces three counts of murder in the deaths of 36-year-old Christina Sargent, her 10-year-old son, Duwayne Coke, and her 8-year-old daughter, Destiny Sargent. Detectives and family members say that the keys of missing West Chester University student, Shane Montgomery, were discovered in the Schuylkill River. A New Jersey diving team -- helping the search for the college student, missing since early Thanksgiving morning -- made the discovery after 10 a.m., reports the station. A Transportation Security Administration agent was arrested after his estranged wife was found dead in a parked van. Herve Placide, 49, turned himself in soon after Magalie Placide, 52, was discovered in a Walgreens parking lot in Poinciana, Fla., Osceola County police said. Authorities say that a northern New Jerseys strip club, made famous by standing in as the Bada Bing on "The Sopranos," was robbed of $30,000 over the weekend. Lodi police say that two men with shotguns robbed the Satin Dolls early Sunday morning, fleeing afterwards. FSU Clears Jameis Winston

Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston has been cleared of the allegations he faced at a student code of conduct hearing this month. The hearing focused on sexual assault allegations a former student brought against Winston two years ago. A prosecutor decided not to criminally charge him, citing a lack of evidence. Authorities have arrested a 19-year-old woman in connection with the death of a 5-year-old boy who police say was falsely reported to have been abducted from a home in upstate New York. Tiffany Van Alstyne is charged in the death of Kenneth White, who authorities say was strangled and also suffered blunt force trauma to the head. The accused is a cousin of the victim. Four people, including two young boys, were killed in a shooting at a home in the northern Illinois city of Rockford, authorities said. Police said a 24-year-old woman, her boyfriend and her two sons were found dead of gunshot wounds inside a red-brick duplex in Rockford. Florida Cop Shot and Killed by Fugitive

A police officer in Tarpon Springs, Fla. — a former NYPD cop — was shot and killed by a wanted man while responding to a noise complaint. The officer, Charles Kondek, 45, was a 17-year veteran of the local police department and a married father of six, the Tarpon Springs Police Department said. A man convicted of luring, kidnapping and killing a popular Vermont teacher has been given a life sentence. Allen Prue was sentenced to life for the first-degree murder of Melissa Jenkins. But, the judge stopped short of sentencing Prue to a life without the possibility of parole, as prosecutors requested, citing Prue's lack of any criminal record before the kidnapping of Jenkins. Slender Man Defendants Competent

Two Wisconsin girls accused of stabbing a classmate to please the fantasy character Slender Man are fit to stand trial, a judge ruled. State experts concluded that both girls were competent, but their attorneys contested those conclusions. Waukesha County Circuit Judge Michael Bohren held back-to-back hearings for both girls to decide. Police in northeast Texas are hunting for a murder suspect who they say is on run outside of Fort Worth. Forty-year-old Kristun Madewell is sought in connection with the murder of Christopher Ortega in south Fort Worth, and has since eluded authorities in several encounters. Escapee Captured After 22 Years

A 71-year-old convicted thief was captured 22 years after he escaped from an Ohio prison. Roger Perdue was apprehended at his Kokomo, Ind., home Dec. 12. Perdue, convicted of grand theft, walked away from his work detail at London Correctional in March 1992. He left the prison five months into his 5 and a half year sentence. Read more...

Teen Arrested in WalMart Shooting

A teen has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a man outside of a Walmart last week in Stafford. According to the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office, Antonio De la Cruz, 19, is in police custody. Rikers Island Guard Convicted

A New York City jail guard has been convicted of a civil rights charge after a jury concluded he ignored the pleas of a dying Rikers Island inmate who had swallowed a toxic soap ball. Terrence Pendergrass shook his head repeatedly as the verdict was announced in Manhattan federal court. Pendergrass was charged in the death of 25-year-old Jason Echevarria, who had bipolar disorder and was being held on a burglary charge. Read more...

TV Meteorologist Attacked by Gunman

The manhunt is on for a gunman who shot a Texas meteorologist three times outside his television station's studio. The attacked KCEN-TV employee is Patrick Crawford, one of the station's meteorologist who only hours before had been showing off his ugly Christmas sweater on the morning show. The assailant confronted Crawford as he left the station's parking lot and "exchanged words" before opening fire with a handgun. Read more...

Rapper Bobby Shmurda Arrested

An up-and-coming rapper is among several people arrested in an investigation into a series of gang-related shootings and drug trafficking in New York City. Authorities said that Ackquille Pollard was taken into custody shortly after he left a recording studio near Radio City Music Hall in midtown Manhattan. He performs under the name Bobby Shmurda. A spokeswoman for the prosecutor's office says the 20-year-old Pollard is among a group of defendants named in an indictment that will be unsealed after their arraignments. Read more...

49ers' Ray McDonald Released

The San Francisco 49ers released defensive lineman Ray McDonald just hours after authorities in Northern California announced they are investigating McDonald on suspicion of sexual assault. The team's general manager, Trent Baalke, says he informed McDonald and his agent by phone that the defender is "terminated." Woman Requests Extra Jail Time

An Oregon woman who called in fake bomb threats to elementary schools asked for a higher prison sentence so she could take advantage of programs behind bars. Jenelle Robyn Pinkston, 47, persuaded a Eugene judge to tack an extra year onto the two-year sentence prosecutors had recommended. Shooting Suspect Found Dead

The suspect in a Pennsylvania killing spree that left six dead has been found dead after a manhunt that spanned two days, according to the Doylestown Township Police Department. Accused gunman Bradley William Stone, a 35-year-old ex-Marine, was found dead in the woods near Pennsburg. Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman says police found Stone's body about a half-mile from his Pennsburg home. Read more...

Remains Linked to 1993 Cold Case?

Possible remains have been discovered at the former Jacksonville home of a mother who vanished in 1993, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. Excavation workers uncovered what appeared to be a piece of a human skull. It hasn't been determined whether the remains are human or what kind of bone was uncovered, and a medical examiner is being called in to investigate, Jacksonville Sheriff's Office spokesman Chris Hancock said. Serial Killer Linked to 4th Death

A man already accused of gunning down two homeless men in their sleep and fatally shooting a hairstylist as she walked to her car now faces charges in the death of a fourth person. Investigators say Aeman Lovel Presley, 34, killed Calvin Gholston while he slept at a shopping center outside Atlanta on Sept. 27. Like two of the other victims, Gholston was also homeless. Mom Charged in Babies' Deaths

A Massachusetts woman has been indicted on two murder charges after the skeletal remains of three babies were found in her squalid home in September. District Attorney Joseph Early announced the charges against Erika Murray. Murray has been held on $1 million bail after pleading not guilty to earlier charges including fetal death concealment. Pregnant Woman's Body Found

The vehicle belonging to a pregnant Sacramento, Calif. woman who was reported missing over a week ago has been located, and a woman's body was found inside. Elk Grove police located the 2005 Toyota Prius belonging to Aubrey Andrews, 20, in a parking lot in Sacramento. The body of a deceased adult female was in the car. Investigators reportedly say there do not appear to be obvious signs of foul play. The investigation is ongoing. Read more...

The ex-husband of a Tennessee woman who disappeared nearly three years ago has been charged with trying to kill his girlfriend in Florida. The attempted murder charge filed against Tyler Mook, 34, stems from an October incident in which witnesses said Mook tried to drown his girlfriend following a fight aboard a boat in Florida. Arrest Made in 2012 Beating Death

Police say they have charged a homeless woman in the 2012 beating death of an elderly woman in her Bronx apartment. According to previous reports, Evelyn Shapiro, 88, was found dead inside her ransacked apartment in June 2012 -- and the cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma to the head. Pia McQueen reportedly turned herself in to the police Monday. Law enforcement officials say that McQueen, 31, had attacked Shapiro for her gold jewelry. Read more...

Driver Faces Homicide Charges

Prosecutors have filed a charge of criminally negligent homicide against an Oregon woman they say struck a man with her station wagon, flipping him on top of the car and then carrying him 11 blocks. Sixty-seven-year-old Daniel Ortiz-Reynaga, a resident of Mexico, had been crossing a street in Springfield, Ore., with his adult son. Police arrested 30-year-old Isabel Gloria McDaniel of Veneta on charges of failing to perform the duties of a driver and evidence tampering. Prosecutors later added the homicide charge. Husband Arrested, Baby Safe

Authorities say an 11-month-old boy whose mother was found dead in a refrigerator at her Houston apartment has been found safe in Mexico with his father, who was taken into custody as a suspect in the woman's killing. An Amber Alert was cancelled by the Houston Police Department, which says 38-year-old Patrick Lambert and the child, Achilles Lambert, are awaiting return to the United States. Police in California are asking for the public's help in locating a missing pregnant woman who was last seen over a week ago. Aubrey Andrews, 20, of Sacramento, was last seen on December 6 near her home. 6 Arrested in Maine Home Invasion

The Androscoggin County Sheriff's Department arrested six people in connection to a home invasion that sent one man to the hospital. Deputies responded to a home invasion on Page Road in Poland. Twenty-seven-year-old Tyler Page was transported to the hospital for a head injury and has since been released. The Sheriff's office investigated over the weekend and said it appears the invasion was drug related and not a random act. Read more...

Man Charged in Deputy's Fatal Crash

A Stockbridge man was driving the SUV Ingham County sheriff's Deputy Grant Whitaker was pursuing when he was killed in a crash last week, prosecutors say. John Coryell Kelsey II has been charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license causing death and first-degree fleeing police. Officials said he had been driving the 2003 GMC Yukon Denali, which was registered to a relative. Others were inside the SUV, officials said, but they are not facing charges. Read more...

Auburn Player Shot to Death

An Auburn freshman football player was shot and killed at an off-campus apartment complex, police said. Jakell Mitchell, 18, was a local high school standout who had been redshirted his freshman year, and coaches spoke highly of his prospects. Oregon School Shooter Arrested

Portland police arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with a shooting that wounded three students outside an alternative high school. The shooting appears to be gang-related, police said. Witnesses told authorities there may have been a dispute outside Rosemary Anderson High School just before the shooting occurred at a street corner. A three-hour manhunt that blocked roads in Georgia during the height of rush hour has ended with a suspect's arrest. The hunt began after two police officers and another suspect were shot at an apartment outside Atlanta. 'Satanic' Killer Found Guilty

A jury convicted a Houston-area teenager of capital murder in the death of a girl who prosecutors say was killed as part of a satanic ritual. Jurors found Jose E. Reyes, 18, guilty in the February death of 15-year-old Corriann Cervantes in a vacant apartment southeast of Houston. Reyes will receive an automatic life sentence. Mom's Murder Charges Dismissed

In a scathing critique of Arizona's criminal justice system, a state appeals court ordered the dismissal of murder charges against a woman who spent 22 years on death row for the killing of her 4-year-old son. The Arizona Court of Appeals leveled harsh criticism against prosecutors over their failure to turn over evidence during Debra Jean Milke's trial about a detective with a long history of misconduct and lying. Jessica Chambers was a regular at the rural convenience store gas station where Ali Fadhel worked, and the two often chatted. On Saturday, she came by in a dark-colored sweater and pajama pants that looked like sweats. She put $14 worth of gas in her car, more than the $5 or so she usually purchased, he said. Authorities say they have arrested one man and are looking for another after three men were found fatally shot in a suburban Denver home. The bodies were found in Adams County after a distraught woman called 911 to report a disturbance in the home before hanging up. Cmdr. A 10-year-old boy who's been in an adult jail since authorities say he fatally beat a 90-year-old woman two months ago is scared, lonely and misses his mother, his public defender said. The boy, one of the youngest ever to face an adult homicide charge in Pennsylvania, met with family through a glass partition when he was first brought to the county lockup in rural northeastern Pennsylvania. A Michigan teen has been arrested after allegedly using the popular "After School" smartphone app to threaten to shoot classmates. The same gun was used in separate incidents to kill two homeless men who were shot as they slept, wrapped in blankets on the streets of Atlanta, according to Atlanta police. Now, police hope the bullets will lead them to the killer. An emergency room nurse was charged with taking credit card numbers from 20 patients and using the information to purchase merchandise online. A young couple attempted to take over an estate valued over $1 million, according to the Clay County Sheriff's Office. Authorities say the couple, Justin and Jenna Dean, removed and replaced the locks and moved into the home located in the 5700 block of County Road 214. The couple filed forged documents and a bogus quit claim deed on the foreclosed property. The boyfriend of a 23-year-old Texas woman, who vanished under suspicious circumstances in August, has been indicted on drug charges which authorities said are unrelated to the disappearance of Christina Morris. Mom Dead, Amber Alert Issued

An Amber Alert has been issued for four Montebello children after the body of a woman was discovered in the trunk of one of the family's cars, according to police. The family of six, including Daniel Perez, 43, his wife, Erica Perez, 39, and their four children were said to be missing since Friday, police said. A report was filed Wednesday. Though the body of the woman found in the trunk of the family's black 2010 Honda Accord has not been positively identified, police said their main focus is now finding the children, who they believe are with Daniel Perez. Accused Wife Killer Post Bail

A former Weld County, Colo. sheriff's deputy indicted for murder in the 2012 shooting death of his wife has posted $500,000 bail. Tom Fallis, 34, was released from jail. Fallis, who was arrested in Bloomington, Ind., last month, is charged with second-degree murder in the shooting of 28-year-old Ashley Fallis on Jan. 1, 2012, after a New Year's Eve party at their home in Evans. Police say a popular Atlanta disc jockey hired a hit man to kill his wife. Andre Pugh, aka "DJ Awesome," was has been arrested. The Fulton County medical examiner confirmed that his wife, Tiffany Pugh, was shot to death in her East Point, Ga., home. Police said the victim suffered two gunshot wounds during the Nov. 23 attack. Woman Strangled By Former Co-Workers

A woman whose burned body was found in her Fort Worth apartment Thanksgiving weekend had been strangled and beaten, allegedly by former co-workers, according to court documents. Police have charged Carter Cervantez, 25, and her boyfriend Clarence "David" Mallory, 19, with capital murder in the death of Ashlea Harris, 31. Harris' hands and feet were bound in duct tape, reports CBS affiliate KHOU, which cites court documents filed by Fort Worth police. Authorities say a Wisconsin man suspected of his 10th drunken driving offense is blaming a Wisconsin tradition for his latest legal troubles. A criminal complaint filed in Adams County says 75-year-old John Przybyla told the deputy that stopped him that the reason he smelled like alcohol is because he had been at a fish fry and had eaten beer-battered fish. Missouri Executes Convicted Killer

A Missouri inmate was put to death early Wednesday for beating a 63-year-old woman to death with a hammer in 1998, the state's record 10th lethal injection of 2014 to match Texas for the most executions in the country this year. Paul Goodwin, 48, sexually assaulted Joan Crotts in St. Louis County, pushed her down a flight of stairs and beat her in the head with a hammer. Two Kent County men have been charged with arson in fires last week at three Felton-area churches, state fire officials said. In simultaneous arrests at their homes, deputy fire marshals took Alex J. Harrington Jr., 26, into custody in High Point Park, a mobile home complex in the Frederica area, and Joseph Skochelak, 25, at the Dover Apartments complex in Dover, said Michael G. A Tennessee couple was sentenced to 35 years in prison after forcing the man's 5-year-old daughter to drink excessive amounts of grape soda as punishment, causing her death. Randall Lee Vaughn, 42, and Mary Lavonne Vaughn, 59, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and aggravated child neglect in a plea agreement. A Cape Cod hunter is facing charges after a bizarre shooting. Police say the hunter accidentally shot a man who was out jogging with his dog near Mary Dunn Road in Barnstable. The hunter was arrested at the scene and appeared in Barnstable District Court. The body of a 28-year-old Nebraska mother of two, who has been missing since Thanksgiving Day, has been found in a northeast Lincoln storage unit and her husband will be charged with her murder, police said. Jurors in the Jodi Arias sentencing retrial in Maricopa County Superior Court were given another week off after a status conference that played out mostly at the judge's bench, out of earshot of the press and public. A Florida triple homicide suspect hung his wife from a cord, beat her and shot her during a murder spree in which he also killed his pastor and neighbor, according to new details released by police. Two Killed by San Antonio Gunman

San Antonio police say a woman, her boyfriend and her dog were killed in a shooting that also wounded an 8-year-old girl, and the male suspect who was being sought has apparently been killed by police. The Bexar County Sheriff's Office says an officer opened fire as the suspect reached for a gun at a motel. Police are investigating the death of a 53-year-old Austin choir director who was found slain in her home. Austin police say Kathy Blair died from apparent trauma caused by a "weapon involved." A casino robbery suspect was fatally shot by an officer Sunday inside a Las Vegas resort after police said he failed to comply with their commands. Police Capt. Missing Houston Doctor Found Safe

The family of a missing 25-year-old Houston doctor says she has been found safe in South Texas. Dr. Fehintola Omidele's family released a statement that said she phoned her sister earlier in the day from El Campo, a city about 70 miles southwest of Houston. They say Omidele later returned home. Ex-Wife, Son Charged in Death

Police say a man killed behind a western Pennsylvania grocery store apparently was beaten to death by his ex-wife and her son. Police say Lisa Jones-Orock and Zachary Jones have confessed to beating 57-year-old Fombell resident Gerald Lee Orock Jr. with a club near the loading dock of Loccisano's Golden Dawn. Taser Stops Train Stabber

Police officers churning their way through a chaotic scene aboard an Amtrak train in Michigan are being credited with preventing even more bloodshed after a man stabbed a conductor and three fellow passengers. "It was pretty incredible that they may have saved some lives," passenger Tyler Vandermolen said. Michael Williams, 44, of Saginaw was charged with attempted murder. Prosecutors say necrophilia motivated a Pennsylvania man to fatally shoot his stepdaughter last month. Gregory Graf was charged after police found 33-year-old Jessica Padgett's body buried on his property in Northampton County. Man Who Killed Wife, Pastor Arrested

Authorities have arrested a Florida man suspected of killing his wife and another woman, then going to the church where his wife worked and fatally shooting the pastor. Rapper Beanie Sigel Shot at Home

Rapper Beanie Sigel was shot in the stomach at a home in New Jersey and was being treated for a life-threatening injury, according to police and his lawyer. The bullet went through Sigel's stomach and out his back, Pleasantville police Chief Jose Ruiz told The Philadelphia Inquirer. Two suspects were arrested in connection to the murder of Ashlea Harris, who was found dead in her apartment on November 28. Harris was the victim of an early morning apartment fire. Two teens in Macomb Township, Mich., went on a stealing spree re-creating Dr. Seuss' "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." Brandon Joel Chait, 18, and Brandon Maier Ancell, 19, were arrested after stealing packages from people's front doors. The men were caught by a quick-thinking neighbor who saw them taking a Macy's package from his neighbor's front door. 3 Dead From Fentanyl Laced Cocaine

Authorities in North Carolina say three people have died and 10 others needed medical attention after using cocaine apparently laced with a painkiller. The deaths and injuries took place over a span of several hours early Saturday in three different places in North Carolina's Chatham County, sheriff's office spokesman Doug Stuart said. Pastor, Church Employee Killed

A Florida man killed his wife and another woman, then headed to the church where his wife worked and fatally shot the pastor, authorities said. Police were searching for Andres "Andy" Avalos, 33. The Manatee County sheriff's office said he killed James "Tripp" Battle, 31, at the Bayshore Baptist Church. Clues Sought in 1998 Murder

Investigators are asking the public to come forward with information in the haunting unsolved 1998 killing of Yale University student Suzanne Jovin, sixteen years ago. Police plan to hold a community meeting in New Haven in an attempt to glean any information from people who may have lived in the area at the time. Jovin was stabbed to death about two miles from campus. Jovin, 21, was a senior majoring in political science and international studies when she was found mortally wounded, suffering from 17 stab wounds on East Rock Road. Read more...

A New Jersey man was convicted of murder for bludgeoning his wife with a frying pan then strangling her, apparently after they argued over the dire state of their finances. A Texas jury found a former justice of the peace accused of shooting dead two Texas prosecutors guilty of capital murder, after a prosecutor called him "a ruthless killing machine" who had carefully plotted his crimes. Two Fayetteville State University students were arrested and charged with murder in the Nov. 27 shooting death of Kizmel Kachae' Norman in Plymouth, police said. Oji Elon Wynn, 20, of 1262 Woodlawn Road in Roper, and Michael Dawane Jones, 20, of 3265 Soundside Road in Columbia, are each charged with murder and felony riot. Court Halts Texas Execution

A federal appeals court halted the execution scheduled Wednesday of a Texas prisoner whose attorneys say is too delusional to be put to death. The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals granted the reprieve less than eight hours before condemned killer Scott Panetti was set to receive a lethal injection. A grand jury declined to indict a white New York City police officer who used an apparent chokehold on Eric Garner, who was black, and who died after the July confrontation in the borough of Staten Island. Authorities say they have arrested a man suspected in three armed carjackings around South Florida in which one person was shot to death. The FBI reports that 35-year-old Gregory B. Woman Stabs 'Witch' Roommate

Police have arrested and charged the roommate of a woman found stabbed to death in her Rockville, Md. condominium. Police found Park's body on her bedroom floor; she had been stabbed multiple times in the back. Park's roommate, Rita Narcissa Sanders-Campfield was in the condo at the time and had injuries that appeared to be bite marks on her right arm. A journal next to Sanders-Campfield's bed referred to the victim as "evil" and included allegations that Park practiced "witchcraft." Read more...

A body pulled from Utah's Jordan River Monday has been identified as Kayelyn Louder, a 30-year-old suburban Salt Lake City woman who went missing Sept. 27. The partially-submerged body was caught in tree branches and debris in the river in West Valley City, southwest of Salt Lake City. 'Cop of the Year' Arrested

A former New York precinct "Cop of the Year" is facing cocaine trafficking charges after Florida police say he was nabbed in a sting. Officer Phillip LeRoy is accused of trying to buy 10 kilos — about 22 pounds — of cocaine.LeRoy was named the "Cop of the Year" in 2012 by the 114th Precinct Community Council in Queens. Judge Releases 'In Cold Blood' Files

The son of a Kansas law enforcement officer who helped investigate the 1959 killings that inspired the book "In Cold Blood" can publish his father's field notes that he says substantially contradict the account found in Truman Capote's literary masterpiece. Shawnee County District Court Judge Larry Hendricks said he made an error when he initially blocked publication of the criminal investigation files in 2012. His decision means that Ronald Nye of Oklahoma City can use his father's files for a book he plans about the slayings of prominent farmer and community leader Herbert Clutter, his wife and two children in Holcomb. A key witness has testified that a Connecticut woman paid him $5,000 in 2012 to kill her ex-husband during a child custody dispute that police said had millions of dollars at stake. Tiffany Stevens of Bloomfield went on trial in Hartford Superior Court. She has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder. Police are investigating Michael Brown's stepfather for angry comments on the streets of Ferguson after a grand jury decided not to indict the police officer who fatally shot his stepsonthe police officer who fatally shot his stepson, a spokesman said. Police Seek Armed Carjacker

Authorities in South Florida searched for a suspect believed responsible for three armed carjackings and shooting two people, one fatally. Fort Lauderdale police spokeswoman Deanna Greenlaw said the victims, a man and a woman, were shot multiple times outside an insurance office in Hallandale Beach. The FBI later said the man had died. Their identities were not immediately released. Greenlaw said after the shooting, the suspect then drove a stolen car north on Interstate 95, crashing near downtown Fort Lauderdale and got away on foot. Read more...

Two young children are accused of setting a school playground on fire in Baltimore, reports CBS Baltimore. Sources tell the station that an eight and nine-year-old are facing charges for lighting the playground at John Ruhrah Elementary Middle School on fire on Thanksgiving. Search Continues for Missing Student

Volunteers in Philadelphia hit the streets again to search for a West Chester University senior who went missing after a night out with friends last week. Family members said volunteers went out putting up posters in the area where 21-year-old Shane Montgomery was last seen. Volunteers had been focusing their efforts around Main Street, a popular strip of restaurants and bars in the Manayunk neighborhood where Montgomery disappeared, but they are now branching out from there. Burglars Captured on Home Video

A pair of California burglars ransacked a home but did not take the surveillance camera that took the remarkably clear images that led to them being identified by police. The amazingly clear video, which was placed in the corner inside a Sunnyvale apartment, had the perfect view of the suspects, identified as Carrisa Barreto, 36, and Fernando Ricardo Angeles, 34, as they entered through the front door, police said. Utah Teen Planned School Shooting

Police say a student caught with a loaded gun at his northern Utah high school planned to shoot a former girlfriend and open fire on the rest of the school. The Weber County Sheriff's Office says another student spotted the handgun at about noon at Fremont High School in Plain City and reported it to a school resource officer. The 16-year-old was arrested and booked into a juvenile detention center on suspicion of three misdemeanor weapons possession charges. Read more...

Arias Witnesses Refuse to Testify

Lawyers for Jodi Arias have asked a judge to take the death penalty off the table at her sentencing retrial because three witnesses on her behalf have refused to testify in open court. The attorneys said in court filings last week that the witnesses fear they'll be harassed or threatened if they testify. The lawyers say the refusal means Arias can't get a complete defense as a jury hears evidence over whether to sentence her to life in prison or death for the killing of her former boyfriend, Travis Alexander. West Virginia Shooter Found Dead

After fatally shooting four people, setting off an hourslong manhunt and putting schools and residents on alert for an armed man, the owner of a small towing business was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in his truck in the woods, state police said. The search for Jody Lee Hunt, 39, began when state and local authorities warned people to look out for his black 2011 Ford F-150. A homeless sex offender has been arrested in connection with the murder of a 39-year-old Sioux Falls woman. Police told reporters that Arthur Brundige was arrested on charges of murder and manslaughter after Sabrina White was discovered dead in her apartment last week. Woman Found With Arrows in Head

A Florida man told police he shot his mother with a gun and a bow-and-arrow and then stabbed her because he claimed she "stole his diamonds and also gave his father cancer," authorities said. The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office received a call reporting a man knocking over Christmas decorations and yelling at another person. Video Leads Cops to Vandals

Police in suburban Houston arrested two teenagers for damaging a home under construction after linking them to video the teens posted on the popular messaging app. League City authorities say the two teens, ages 14 and 15, broke windows and put holes into drywall. Brothers Charged With Scamming Elderly

Jeff Ogles and his brother Keith are charged with Financial Exploitation of the Elderly after one of the victim's bank contacted authorities. Police said the two brothers went door to door carefully selecting victims by their age and vulnerability and convinced them to pay for repairs to their roof. Margaret Norris, 89, who lives in Morningside told 11 Alive News she knew she had problems with her slate roof and the two men who came to her door were so nice, she couldn't help but trust them. Ohio State Player's Body Found

A body found near the campus of Ohio State University was confirmed to be that of football player Kosta Karageorge, police said. Karageorge's body was found inside a dumpster Sunday afternoon and he apparently died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said. A handgun was also found, police said. Police spokesman Sgt. Rich Weiner said police received a call around 2:30 p.m. from someone reporting a body found in the trash bin. Woman Shot in Nordstrom's Dies

Authorities say a woman who was shot by her ex-boyfriend inside a Nordstrom in Chicago before he turned the gun on himself has died. The medical examiner had previously identified the male shooter as 31-year-old Marcus Dee, though they were unable to determine his last known address. A 13-year-old Georgia boy had an emotional reunion with his mother after being found by police behind a false wall inside a home. The boy's father, stepmom, and three other people have been arrested over the incident, charged with obstruction, false imprisonment and cruelty to children. A judge denied them bond. A San Diego doctor and his wife were fatally shot in their home by their 22-year-old son, who was arrested after he tried to slip past police tape near the scene, police said. Woman Killed Inside Motel 6

California police are searching for a man who fatally stabbed a woman in a Motel 6. Pomona police said they were dispatched to the motel on S. Garey Ave. for a disturbance, but when they arrived they found the 35-year-old woman's dead body inside a motel room. Authorities are now searching for an adult male as a suspect in the murder.
