1 Wounded in Kia Plant Shooting

A shooting inside the Kia Motors auto manufacturing plant in West Point, Ga. left one person wounded and another in custody after armed officers swarmed the site. The massive plant is on 2,200 acres near the Georgia-Alabama state line. The shooting victim was flown by helicopter to a hospital in nearby Columbus, said Sgt. Stewart Smith of the Troup County Sheriff's Office. He said a lone suspect had been arrested. Read more...

Girlfriend Tries to Bite Penis Off

An Oklahoma man says he nearly lost his penis when he woke to find his girlfriend trying to bite it off. A night of drinking and arguing led to the painful arousal when the victim said he found Amber Ellis "biting his (penis) off" as he slept on the couch. He told Tulsa police he fought the 31-year-old off but in the process she hit him in the head with a laptop computer. Their earlier argument was over his accusing her of being too needy, he said. Teacher Choked, Punched and Kicked

An irate mom and her teenage niece were arrested after choking, punching and kicking a teacher inside a middle school in Hempstead, L.I., officials said. Annika McKenzie, 34, allegedly ambushed a veteran math teacher at Alverta B. Gray Schultz Middle School on Wednesday after claiming the instructor "put her hands on" on McKenzie's 12-year-old daughter that day, Hempstead Village police said. McKenzie reportedly walked past a security checkpoint and confronted Catherine Engelhardt, a 22-year veteran of the Hempstead School District, outside her classroom. Read more...

Bar Patron Sets Bouncer on Fire

A badly burnt bouncer from Florida is fighting for his life as police search for the man who set him on fire outside a Port St. Lucie watering hole. The incident occurred after the patron was tossed out of Neely's Grog House on Bayshore Blvd., police said. The staff refused to accept a personal check from Ivan Louis Rodriguez, 45, because he wrote checks in recent weeks that bounced, police said. Read more...

Road Rage Gunman Arrested

Police said they have arrested a known gang member who is considered the prime suspect in a "road rage" shooting last month that sent a woman to the hospital. Dietrich Evans, 22, was taken into custody at his apartment in the 5300 block of Aldine Bender, officials said. He is charged with aggravated assault for his role in a March 20 shooting along the North Freeway near Richey. The victim, Kay Hafford, 28, was able to identify Evans as her assailant, authorities said. Read more...

5 Shot in Northwest Indianapolis

Five people, including three kids under 10 years old, were seriously injured in a shooting in northwest Indianapolis. The shots rang out at approximately 9:30 p.m. on the 5000 block of Wildflower Court. All five of the victims were in serious condition. An infant and two children, ages 4 and 6, were rushed to Riley Hospital for Children, and two related adult women, one age 24 and another in her 40s or 50s, are receiving treatment at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital. A Singaporean Stanford graduate student studying cancer biology was arrested and charged with poisoning her research classmates with a potent chemical that causes burning sensations in the mouth and throat, authorities say. 7 Shot at Spring Break Party

Three spring break revelers were critically wounded when a gunman opened fire at a crowded house party on the coast of Florida, authorities said. Seven victims, who included a handful of Alabama A&M University students, were found at the Panama City Beach bash, one of whom had been shot in the head. A desperate spree of 911 calls brought deputies to victims strewn about a home at 5312 Thomas Drive, steps away from the sandy beach. Doughnut Shop Attacker Arrested

Seattle cops captured a wanted man in connection to last month's violent robbery of a married couple outside their doughnut shop hiding inside a cramped crawl space. The beating left Chea Pol and Heng Hay bloodied and bruised when the 21-year-old suspect attacked them outside their shop south of downtown Seattle. Pol, who fled the Cambodian genocide for the United States with her husband, is glad to hear of a suspect's arrest. Read more...

6 Arrested in WalMart Brawl

An Idaho man and two juveniles are among six suspects arrested after a late-night brawl in north-central Arizona left one person dead and two others with gunshot wounds, including a police officer. The name of the person killed wasn't released, but Arizona Department of Public Safety officials said 29-year-old Jeramiah Gaver of Boise was being held on suspicion of aggravated assault. Authorities said a Walmart employee suffered a sprained arm and cuts and other police officers had minor injuries in the melee in the store's parking lot in Cottonwood some 100 miles north of Phoenix. Fetus Cut From Woman's Womb

A Colorado woman responding to a Craigslist ad for baby clothes was beaten, stabbed and had her unborn baby cut from the womb in a brutal attack by another woman, police said. The alleged attacker, a 34-year-old woman, showed up at Longmont United Hospital with the dead fetus, claiming she had a miscarriage, Longmont Police Commander Jeffrey M. Satur said. Read more...

O.J. Simpson Faces Death Threats

A white supremacist Aryan Nation convict has threatened to kill O.J. Simpson at Nevada's Lovelock Correctional Center, according to a report. The incident happened last week when Simpson cut in front of another inmate standing in line to receive medication. Morgan State Football Players Stabbed

Three Morgan State football players were stabbed on the university's campus, according Baltimore Police. The program was scheduled to commence spring practice, but a man swung a knife wildly at several players, slashing one in the chest, one in a cheek and another in the arm. The three injured players were taken to a hospital and a suspect was taken into custody. Ferguson Cops Not Target?

A man accused of shooting two officers last week in Ferguson was not targeting police or aiming at demonstrators at a late-night protest, his attorney said as he countered an earlier police description of the crime. Defense attorney Jerryl Christmas also suggested that St. Louis County police may have used excessive force when arresting the suspect, Jeffrey Williams, saying his client had bruises on his back, shoulders and face and a knot on his head. A 20-year-old man was arrested for shooting two officers outside the Ferguson Police Department but told investigators he was aiming for someone else in the crowd, officials said. Colorado Officers Held Hostage

A Colorado sheriff's deputy and a state wildlife officer were held hostage by a man and a woman before a struggle erupted and the man was fatally shot, authorities said. Neither the deputy nor the wildlife officer was injured in the confrontation near the small town of Dinosaur in northwestern Colorado, about 10 miles from the Utah border. The woman was taken to a hospital for an undisclosed medical condition and then transferred to the Moffat County jail. Read more...

71-Year-Old Attacked Over Parking Spot

A 71-year-old Wisconsin woman was seriously injured after she brawled with a younger woman over a handicapped parking spot and ended up getting chest bumped to the ground, police said. The fight outside a Walmart in Greenfield started when customer Kezia Perkins (pictured), 32, tried pulling into a prime parking spot near the store's entrance but couldn't make the sharp turn quick enough. Jets Chris Johnson Wounded in Shooting

New York Jets running back Chris Johnson and another passenger were shot in their shoulders while stopped at a traffic light in Orlando, and the driver of the vehicle they were in was killed. The NFL player and the other passenger, Reggie Johnson, were in stable condition at a hospital Sunday. A person close to Johnson confirmed it was the running back who was involved. Read more...

Caregiver Beats 92-Year-Old Woman

A 28-year-old Memphis man is charged with assaulting a 92-year-old woman. The woman, Willie Frances Robinson, said Thomas Standley got mad with her because she wouldn't take her medicine. The woman said Standley choked her, then grabbed her by her arm and shook her violently. In a police affidavit, the station reported, Robinson claimed Standley beats her often and talked her into signing over her power of attorney. Read more...

Cop Charged With Attempted Murder

Indianapolis cops busted a fellow officer on attempted murder charges after he loaded a gun with blanks, pointed it at the mother of his child and pulled the trigger, authorities said. The gunpowder blast knocked out three of the girlfriend's teeth, fractured her nose and broke her jaw, police said. Teen Arrested in Mall Shooting

Three people were hospitalized with gunshot wounds after a 17-year-old male opened fire on a man at a Pittsburgh-area mall, police said, striking his intended target as well as two bystanders. The gunman managed to escape but police say they were able to identify him by matching surveillance video with images on social media. Tarod Thornhill was arrested at a home in Brackenridge. He was being held at the Allegheny County Jail pending arraignment on charges as an adult of aggravated assault, attempted homicide and recklessly endangering other people. Read more...

Teens Shot at Maryland High School

Two teenagers were shot outside a Maryland high school during a basketball game Wednesday night and the gunmen are still on the loose. Fire and police responded to Frederick High School in the Baltimore-Washington D.C. suburbs at 8:20 p.m. after reports of a double shooting. It took place on school grounds next to the gym while a junior varsity boys basketball game between Frederick and Gov. Thomas Jefferson High School was played inside. Read more...

Girl Scout Shot Delivering Cookies

Just moments after stepping out of her apartment, a little girl in Indiana was shot in the leg as she went to sell Girl Scout cookies, police said. Sinai Miller, 9, was struck by a drive-by shooter in an Indianapolis residential area as she walked with her two younger sisters. "They walked outside the door and they didn't even get to make it across the lot and then the shots start ringing out," said Mark Chandler, the mother's boyfriend said. Read more...

Warran Sapp Arrested in Phoenix

Authorities say former NFL lineman and Hall of Famer Warren Sapp has been arrested on suspicion of soliciting a prostitute and assault. Phoenix police say the 42-year-old Sapp was taken into custody at a downtown hotel. He was booked into jail on two counts of assault and charges of soliciting prostitution. A woman told officers that she and another woman were working as escorts and an argument over money in a guest's room turned physical. Both women suffered minor injuries. Read more...

One man is facing assault charges after deputies say he severely beat a man. Terrance Ward, 23, has been charged with 2nd degree assault and battery. Investigators say they witnessed Ward striking the victim in the upper body with his fist. The victim was transported to Richland Memorial with severe injuries. Woman, Child Shot in Home Invasion

Police say an 8-year-old St. Louis boy went to school and told an office worker he had been shot, after his mother exchanged gunfire with a man who tried to force his way into a home. The mother was also wounded in the shooting. Both mother and child are in stable condition. Officers were called after a male resident was confronted by another man who tried to push his way into the house. The mother got a gun and exchanged shots with the suspect. Read more...

Police Shoot 16-Year-Old Girl

Denver police shot and killed a 16-year-old girl who allegedly struck and injured an officer with a stolen car. Authorities did not identify the teen who was shot, but friends identified her as Jessica Hernandez. Police said that one officer was responding to a call for a suspicious vehicle in an alley. A second officer arrived after it was determined that the car had been stolen. In a statement, police said the two officers then "approached the vehicle on foot when the driver drove the car into one of the officers." Read more...

Homeless Man Set on Fire

Police are looking for three men in connection with the Jan. 15 attempted murder of a homeless man who was set on fire while he slept. Police received a call around 11 p.m. from an adult male who said he found 58-year-old John Frazier in flames and extinguished the fire with sand, Dolan said. When officers arrived on scene, they found Frazier and some of his personal items "still smoldering," according to Ventura Police Cpl. William Dolan. Read more...

Mother, Daughter Attack School Officials

A mother and daughter upset that their teenage relative was disciplined at a South Side elementary school are charged with allegedly beating and stabbing two Chicago Public Schools employees and a teen boy at the school. Authorities say the attack took place at Bond Elementary School. Debbie Wilson, 45, and her 26-year-old daughter also named Debbie Wilson allegedly went to pick up the 14-year-old girl, the elder Wilson's daughter, after she was disciplined at the school. Coach Bites Another Coach's Face

A Cobb County high school basketball coach allegedly bit another coach's face twice, threatened to beat him and threw a chair inside a school office, according to her arrest warrant. Melonie Joyce Martin, the South Cobb girls coach, was standing about two inches from the face of Coach Tyrone Harris when she allegedly bit him, the warrant states. An assistant principal and two other coaches then watched as Martin allegedly threatened to harm Harris on Jan. 9. Read more...

Authorities say a New York college student is accused of setting a classmate on fire in his dorm, then singing and recording her putting out the flames. Jaime Castano was arraigned on assault and reckless endangerment charges. The incident occurred at his NYU dorm in August. An Australian golfer was reportedly kidnapped, beaten, robbed and dropped off near a wine bar in Hawaii after missing the cut at the Sony Open. The Golf Channel reported that during the Sony Open telecast Robert Allenby was in a wine bar when he became separated from his caddie and a friend from Australia. With his left eye bruised and swollen shut, Allenby was unable to remember anything except being dumped in a gutter near a park of homeless people. Read more...

A fight broke out at a funeral, leading to the widow's arrest. Police arrested 28-year-old Cristi Howe on multiple charges. She allegedly started a fight in the parking lot of the New Hope Church of the Nazarene in Little Rock. Around 30 people were involved. Five people have been arrested in connection with the New Year's Day shooting death of a security guard at a Southern California roller rink. Investigators say 48-year-old Richard Williamson died confronting a gunman firing at a crowd outside the Cal Skate rink in the city of Grand Terrace. Two other people were treated for injuries. Pastor Shoots Former Employee

Authorities say the pastor of a central Florida church shot and wounded an employee during a gunfight after the employee learned he was being fired. The Osceola County Sheriff's Office said that Living Water Fellowship Church Pastor Terry Howell had been meeting with maintenance worker Benjamin Parangan to terminate Parangan's employment with the Kissimmee church. Witnesses say Parangan pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots at Howell, who then returned fire with his own weapon and hit Parangan. Read more...

A minister sitting in a car in a San Diego church parking lot was grazed in the chest by a bullet that came to rest in his arm, police said. The victim was with another minister in a parked car outside Greater Apostolic Faith Temple Church, talking, when a gunman approached on foot and fired four rounds into a passenger side window, according to San Diego police Office Robert Heims. A Maryland woman set a sexy trap for her ex-boyfriend -- luring him for some backseat friskiness only to have her two new teens lovers beat him up, police said. Glenda Rodriguez, 33, got busy with the victim in her car as Luis Figueroa, 18, and his 16-year-old girlfriend hid in a nearby Porta Potty. 2 Shot in Train Station

Police say three people have been wounded, two critically, in a shooting at a Chicago Transit Authority train stop. Chicago Police Department spokeswoman Amina Greer says the shooting occurred on the mezzanine level of a Red Line "El" station on the city's South Side. She says a 25-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman were shot and taken to a hospital in critical condition. A third victim, a 24-year-old man, sustained wounds to his face from glass fragments. 9 Shot in Florida Drive-By

Police say nine people who were playing basketball at a Miami park have been injured, one critically, in a drive-by shooting. A statement from the Miami-Dade Police department says as a car approached the courts, the car's passenger opened fire. Teen Arrested in WalMart Shooting

A teen has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a man outside of a Walmart last week in Stafford. According to the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office, Antonio De la Cruz, 19, is in police custody. Deputies did not provide any updates on his two friends who are also wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of 35-year-old Christian Eduardo Cardoza on Dec. 10. Read more...

TV Meteorologist Attacked by Gunman

The manhunt is on for a gunman who shot a Texas meteorologist three times outside his television station's studio. The attacked KCEN-TV employee is Patrick Crawford, one of the station's meteorologist who only hours before had been showing off his ugly Christmas sweater on the morning show. Portland police arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with a shooting that wounded three students outside an alternative high school. The shooting appears to be gang-related, police said. Witnesses told authorities there may have been a dispute outside Rosemary Anderson High School just before the shooting occurred at a street corner. A Cape Cod hunter is facing charges after a bizarre shooting. Police say the hunter accidentally shot a man who was out jogging with his dog near Mary Dunn Road in Barnstable. The hunter was arrested at the scene and appeared in Barnstable District Court. Police officers churning their way through a chaotic scene aboard an Amtrak train in Michigan are being credited with preventing even more bloodshed after a man stabbed a conductor and three fellow passengers. "It was pretty incredible that they may have saved some lives," passenger Tyler Vandermolen said. Michael Williams, 44, of Saginaw was charged with attempted murder. Three people were injured and a gunman killed when police armed with assault rifles swarmed Florida State University after the shooter opened fire inside Strozier Library, police said. At least two people with gunshot wounds were transported to Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare, the hospital said. A north Florida sheriff's deputy fatally shot a woman who had grabbed his stun gun during an altercation and pointed it at him. The Citrus County Sheriff's Office says the shooting occurred at the entrance to a mobile home park in Inverness. The deputy was responding to a disturbance call from someone reporting that 46-year-old Dawn Renee Cameron was trying to light her neighbor's truck on fire. Off-Duty Chicago Officer Critically Shot

Chicago police say an off-duty officer and her daughter have been shot during a domestic dispute involving the daughter's boyfriend. First Deputy Supt. Al Wysinger said the boyfriend shot the 49-year-old officer in the face, neck and forearms. She was listed in critical condition at an area hospital. A teenager and her 23-year-old boyfriend have been charged in an alleged plot to murder her family and run away. The 15-year-old girl is accused of stabbing her 12-year-old brother in the throat and attempting to stab her younger sister. The incident happened on Oct. 17 at the family's home in Plymouth Township, Mich. The boy was hospitalized with multiple stab wounds. A hatchet-wielding man was shot and killed Thursday, after allegedly attacking a New York City police officer. The suspect walked up to a group of uniformed officers around 2 p.m., allegedly without warning, and attacked, police said. A woman spoke out against her attackers, after three men beat her up and stole her purse earlier this month. Surveillance video shows that on Oct. 2 around 2 a.m., Gwendolyn Reyes walked past three men in Brooklyn. After a vicious beating, the three suspects left her lying helpless on the ground. On the security video, after being pushed to the wall of a nearby building by one man, Reyes is punched in the face twice. Stripper Attacks Boyfriend With Ax

Police say a drunken strip club dancer attacked her boyfriend with an ax when she became angry that he wouldn't talk to her. The incident sent 34-year-old Tammy Hiser to the Volusia County Jail where she remained on battery charges. Hiser's 28-year-boyfriend called police on Monday. A shooting sent terrified patrons scrambling from a Miami nightclub and left 15 people wounded, including an 11-year-old child, authorities said. When Miami police and rescue crews arrived at a club called The Spot around 1 a.m., they said they found chaos among the large throng of adults and teenagers gathered there. A Connecticut man who police say was caught on video spraying gunfire into a crowd outside a nightclub has been ordered detained on $1 million bail. A Stamford judge refused to lower bail for 22-year-old Dayron Wills that was set by police after five people were wounded outside Tino's Nightclub in Stamford. Authorities say six people have been injured at Houston music festival four were shot and two were injured in the panic after. Witnesses say a man opened fire at 1:55 a.m. Saturday on a crowd of several thousand people inside an arena at the Houston Caribbean Festival, hitting four men. Mom Violently Beaten on Video

A young mother in southern New Jersey was viciously beaten by another woman as the victim's young son looked on. Video of the assault was later posted on Facebook. The altercation occurred outdoors Tuesday in Salem, N.J., according to the station. Police have identified the suspect as 25-year-old Latia Harris. Teen Escapes by Stabbing Kidnapper

Police are looking for a man suspected of kidnapping a 16-year-old suburban Denver girl who managed to escape after stabbing her abductor with his knife. Police say the abductor asked the girl for directions as she waited for a bus and then offered to give her a ride home. She accepted, but when they got near her house she told authorities that he drove into an alley in Edgewater. She says he pulled out a knife, bound her hands with rope and began to drive away. About an hour later, she said was able to escape after freeing one of her hands, getting the knife off the floor and stabbing the suspect. Read more...

A California father followed his 9-year-old autistic son onto the school bus and attacked his son's bully, police say. Burnis Hurd, 44, is charged with child abuse and corporal injury to a child stemming from the incident. He was being held on $50,000 bond. Richmond Police Lt. A Cook County judge ordered a suburban man held on $50,000 bail, after he allegedly led Chicago police on a car chase that ended in a crash on the Near West Side. The winningest high school football coach in Georgia history is in hot water. Former Lincoln County Football Coach Larry Campbell was arrested and charged with simple battery Wednesday morning. A 14-year-old boy suspected of brutally beating an 87-year-old woman at a senior housing facility has been arrested following a days-long search in California, authorities said. Officials said two teenage suspects attacked the elderly victim in an apartment at the Camelot Independent Living complex in the Riverside County city of Hemet. Authorities say a North Carolina teenager tried to kill her grandmother by dumping insecticide and termite killer into a pot of collard greens. Cumberland County District Attorney Billy West said that 17-year-old Tyt'ana Lisa-Nicole Johnson of Fayetteville was charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder. Girls Charged in Philly Brick Attack

Five girls were being questioned in connection with a violent attack on a young woman and her boyfriend near Temple University. The woman had two teeth dislodged after one of the attackers allegedly hit her in the face with a brick. The young woman, 19-year-old Temple student, and her boyfriend were attacked by five teenage girls. The victim needed surgery to repair her teeth. Police say 67-year-old George Lasher has been charged with aggravated assault after being told he couldn't pay a $15 co-pay with a check. Man Attacks Wife With Baseball Bat

Michael DeMaio, a Greenwich, Conn. man accused of bludgeoning his wife with a baseball bat at their mansion Tuesday night, was arraigned on an attempted murder and first-degree assault charge. The 55-year-old DeMaio was arraigned in Stamford Superior Court and was ordered held on $1 million bond after a prosecutor told the judge that the attempted murder charge could turn into a murder charge. Man Arrested for Choking Hotel Maid

A man has been arrested for strangling a hotel maid until she passed out. According to an arrest affidavit from the Austin Police Department, Eric Robertson, 19, has been charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury. A viral video showing the beating of a 13-year-old white boy by three African-American youths in Florida has left hundreds of thousands of viewers horrified, but critics say the case doesn't seem to be attracting much sympathy from self-styled civil rights activists. 4 Teens Arrested for Bomb Throwing

A Utah beauty pageant winner and three other 18-year-olds have been arrested on suspicion of throwing crudely-made bombs at ten homes. Unified Fire Authority Capt. Clint Mecham said authorities began receiving calls of people throwing explosives out of a vehicle around Riverton, the Salt Lake Tribune reports. Arson investigators looked at the scene of one such incident and found four plastic water bottles with pieces of aluminum foil and a chemical substance that was detonated on roads near a home. A man and woman were arrested in connection with a Framingham double shooting that gravely injured one man and seriously injured another after both defendants allegedly lied to investigators falsely implicating another person for having a role in the shooting. Christian Casto-Lainez, 18, of Worcester, was arrested and charged with assault with intent to murder (two counts), unlawful possession of a loaded firearm and misleading investigators. Man Charged With Firing Shots in Church

A man charged with firing two shots inside a southern Missouri church told authorities he was trying to force the congregation and pastor to tell the truth about a previous disturbance that ended with him undergoing a mental health evaluation, according to court documents released. Earnest Smith, 48, of Hartville, was charged in Wright County with first-degree assault, discharging a firearm into a habitable structure, unlawful use of a weapon, making a terrorist threat and armed criminal action. 2 Texas A&M Players Arrested

Two projected starters on the Texas A&M football team have been accused of assault from an incident that occurred in April. According to College Station police, 21-year-old Deshazor Everett and 20-year-old Floyd Raven were charged after the April 7 fight. Both surrendered at the Brazos County Jail. Both players face two charges of assault as well as a charge of criminal mischief for an April 30 incident in which they allegedly hit two men at a College Station apartment complex and allegedly "pounded and kicked" a truck at the scene of the crime. 9 People Shot at Brooklyn House Party

Nine people were shot in the East Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn early Sunday morning at a house party, police said. Four men and five women -- all younger than 45 -- sustained injuries and were transported to four hospitals. Seven patients were released; two remain in the hospital and are in stable condition. Authorities have arrested a man wanted in a New Jersey home invasion that left a mother beaten, an attack that was captured on a nanny cam. The Essex County prosecutor's office said 42-year-old Shawn Custis was arrested Friday in Manhattan by the prosecutor's office and the FBI. The reward has been quadrupled in the New Jersey home invasion where a mother was recorded on a nanny camera beaten in front of her cowering 3-year-old daughter. Public groups and private individuals are offering $20,000 for information leading to the arrest of the man who was shown punching and kicking the Millburn resident and throwing her down stairs while her 3-year-old daughter cowered on the couch last Friday. A man accused of shooting his girlfriend and her three teenage daughters in a neighborhood near Nashville has surrendered to officials in Memphis, authorities said. Shelby County Sheriff's Office spokesman Earnest Moore said that Earnest Moore, who also goes by Earnest Woodley, turned himself in. Nashville police were searching for a man they said shot his girlfriend and her three teenage daughters at an apartment complex and then fled the scene barefoot. Police said that 39-year-old Earnest Woodley, who also goes by Earnest Moore, is wanted in the shooting of his girlfriend, 34-year-old Nicole Luke, and her 14-year-old twin daughters inside an apartment. A Largo, Fla., woman has been arrested after police say she poured a bottle of muriatic acid onto a person's face. Largo police said surveillance video shows 39-year-old Melissa Diane Egbert throw acid onto the unidentified victim's face, then jump into a car and drive off. Man Shot in Utah Church

A Utah man was critically injured Sunday after he was shot in the back of the head while attending Mass. Police in Ogden, Utah, about 40 miles north of Salt Lake City, say Charles Richard Jennings, 35, entered St. James Catholic Church and confronted the victim before shooting him. Authorities believe Jennings then pulled out a gun in the church and fired at the man. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital where he remained in critical condition Sunday evening. Police say a 24-year-old man stabbed four people at a Catholic church in Albuquerque as a Sunday mass was nearing its end. Police spokesman Robert Gibbs says Lawrence Capener jumped over several pews at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church and walked up to the choir area where he began his attack. At least 14 people were hurt in a stabbing spree at a Texas community college apparently carried out by a student who was later taken into custody, authorities said. At least two victims were in critical condition. The stabbing happened at the CyFair campus of Lone Star College, in the Houston suburb of Cypress. Law enforcement officials have identified student Dylan Andrew Quick, 20, as the suspected assailant, and the Harris County District Attorney's Office will soon file charges against him. Man Charged in Drive-By Shooting of 4-Year-Old

A Ferguson man on probation for illegal possession of drugs and weapons was charged in the shooting of a 4-year-old girl in the city's Dutchtown neighborhood. Nathaniel J. Pool, 23, was charged with seven counts of first-degree assault and seven counts of armed criminal action. Pool was being held in lieu of a $200,000 cash bail. FBI Looking at 3 Roadway Shootings

The FBI has joined Michigan and local police in investigating three shootings involving vehicles on southeast Michigan roadways. The shootings happened Monday evening in Washtenaw County within roughly 15 minutes of each other. Two were in Bridgewater Township and one was in nearby Pittsfield Township, about 40 miles southwest of Detroit. No one was injured. A day after two high school football players were convicted of raping a 16-year-old girl, authorities arrested two Ohio girls suspected of making social media threats against the accuser. Authorities End Fight Between 400 Inmates

An Arizona prison complex is on lockdown after a fight broke out among 400 inmates. Arizona Department of Corrections spokesman Bill Lamoreaux says the staff was able to quickly stop the fight that broke out at at the Whetstone Unit of the Arizona State Prison Complex in Tucson. Two prison staffers suffered minor injuries, while five inmates were brought to hospitals with injuries. The extent of the inmates' injuries wasn't immediately available. Read more...

Baltimore County police say a Halethorpe man has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and other offenses in connection with the stabbing of his 14-year-old son. Police say Charles V. Palmer, 50, was in his attic in his home with his son. The two were looking at knives when Palmer stabbed the boy in the neck. Woman Delivers Baby After Being Shot

Police say a pregnant Yonkers woman who was shot in the stomach has successfully delivered her baby and is in stable condition. The woman delivered her baby by emergency cesarean section and was recovering Friday at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx. The victim's baby is also in stable condition. Teen Survives Being Shot 15 Times

An Atlanta teen who wanted to leave a street gang was shot more than a dozen times by members of the gang when he told them his intentions, police say. "Never since I've been in law enforcement have I seen someone shot 15 times and live," U.S. Marshal Eric Heinz said. "(He) told the other members of the gang, 'Hey, look, I want to go straight, be law-abiding,' and they weren't happy with it." The 19-year-old was shot and started crawling and moaning. School Bus Beating Caught on Camera

A school bus beating in Florida was caught on video, posted on Facebook, and ultimately got two high school girls arrested. The confrontation happened Feb. 1 as students of Mitchell High School, in Pasco County, Fla., were being dropped off at home. Video captured on a cell phone shows a teenage girl dressed in all black running to the back of the bus and repeatedly punching 16-year-old Chase Cristia, who never retaliated. The instigator of the attack, who remains unnamed, is charged with misdemeanor assault and the teen that shot the video, Sandra, is charged with a lesser offense for knowing of the fight, but not intervening, the station says. A homeless man was arrested after police accused him of beating an Indianapolis woman on her way to work. Police said Kimberly Barnes, 32, had just gotten off the bus near Delaware and Washington streets and was walking to her job at the nearby Steak 'n Shake restaurant in downtown Indy just before the attack. Man Charged in Texas College Shooting

One of three men wounded in a shooting at a Houston college campus has been charged with assault. Detectives identified the alleged shooter as Carlton Berry, 22, and charged him with aggravated assault. Berry remains in the hospital and is being treated for a gunshot wound, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office. Woman Found in Car Trunk After Chase

A person of interest in a Prince George's County homicide was arrested Friday night after a police chase ended in a crash and the discovery of a woman inside a trunk. Police were called to a home for a report of a fight. When they arrived, they found the body of Jamal Rami Martin, 34, inside the house. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Florida Man Dragged Behind Truck

Two women and a man are facing attempted murder charges after authorities say they shocked a Florida man with a stun gun and beat him before tying him to a truck's bumper and dragging him a half-mile down a road. Jeannette Morris, 61, her brother, 63-year-old Harold Anderson, and 46-year-old Joan Hobart are also charged with aggravated battery and conspiracy to commit murder in the incident in Samsula, Volusia County Sheriff's Office officials said. Three Teens Charged in Home Invasion

Three teenagers were arrested and charged with burglary after making an armed home invasion on Christmas Eve. Dylan Cadorette, 17, of Bennington; Austin Cadorette, 17 of Antrim; and Isaac Lyons, 17 also of Antrim forced their way into a basement-level bedroom where one of the intruders brandished a shotgun. A 17-year-old who was sleeping in the room, confronted the intruders but was tackled and hit over the head with the butt of the shotgun by an intruder several times. An East St. Louis couple is charged with beating an elderly employee at a Metro East Best Buy. It's considered normal procedure by most to be asked for your receipt while leaving a busy store like Best Buy with expensive items. But Latoya Greenwood, 38, didn't take kindly to the request. Police say she began shouting obscenities at the 61-year-old Fairview Heights Best Buy employee at the exit door. Police climbed up and down undeveloped hills east of downtown Los Angeles in a massive search for a teenage girl or woman after witnesses reported seeing a man drag her away by the hair. Searchers on foot and horseback combed 455 acres of the El Sereno hills while others flew overhead in a helicopter and dog handlers deployed bloodhounds. An Arizona woman, in despair at the re-election of Democratic President Barack Obama, ran down her husband with the family car in suburban Phoenix because he failed to vote in the election, police said. Palm Springs police fatally shot an off-duty Marine who allegedly ran over an officer during a confrontation in a parking structure, authorities said. The incident began when two officers on bike patrol saw the Marine driving a black Chrysler with another man in the passenger seat. Shooting Spree Suspect Pleads Not Guilty

A man arrested in a shooting spree that targeted motorists in southeastern Michigan has pleaded not guilty to eight counts of attempted murder. Raulie Casteel was charged in Oakland County, where many of the 24 random shootings occurred last month. The 43-year-old geologist has been in jail since his arrest Monday. Police Seek Gunman Who Wounded 7 at Fair

Police in Georgia are hunting for at least one gunman who opened fire and wounded seven people at a crowded fair in Savannah. Savannah-Chatham County police spokesman Julian Miller said that nobody was killed in the shooting at the Coastal Empire Fair. Michigan Police Search for Possible Sniper

Officers have begun pulling over and questioning drivers in four Michigan counties in the hopes of catching a man suspected of shooting at other motorists nearly two dozen times over the past two weeks, including one driver who was wounded over the weekend. Officers are searching for anything out of the norm during their traffic stops in Oakland, Livingston, Ingham and Shiawassee counties, where the suspect is believed to have fired on 22 other vehicles since Oct. 16, said Lt. Man Stabbed Outside Planned Parenthood

A confrontation outside a southern Oregon Planned Parenthood health center on Tuesday ended with a protester stabbing another man, police said. Earlier in the day, a woman argued with the demonstrator outside the health center. She returned later with a man who then attacked the protester, Grants Pass police Lt. Dennis Ward said. The man was stabbed multiple times in the abdomen and at least once in the neck, police said. Read more...

Woman Claims 3 Men Set Her on Fire

A 20-year-old black woman told police she was set on fire by three men who wrote the initials KKK and a racial slur on her car in northeastern Louisiana. Louisiana State Police spokeswoman Lt. Police are teaming up to track down a suspect in 16 shootings near the Interstate 96 corridor outside of Detroit. A newly formed task force met for more than three hours behind closed doors Friday evening to pore over dozens of tips that could lead to a suspect. Former rap star Flavor Flav was arrested in Las Vegas, Nevada, and charged with assault with a deadly weapon and battery in a case involving his fiancee of eight years, police said. Teen Arrested in Sucker Punching of Teacher

A teenager who sucker punched a schoolteacher in a downtown alley -- an attack caught on surveillance video -- apparently picked the victim at random, police and school officials said. The surveillance video, which Pittsburgh police used to make an arrest, shows the 15-year-old suspect walking with several other youths past 50-year-old James Addlespurger. Addlespurger, who teaches English at an arts high school, was walking in the other direction and did not appear to interact with the youths in any way. Read more...

Stranger Tosses Acid on Woman at Laundromat

San Diego police have arrested a man suspected of tossing a chemical on a woman, causing second-degree burns to her arms and back. Police said the woman was walking into a laundromat Saturday when a man got out of a BMW, confronted her and threw the liquid substance at her. About 20 minutes later, officers responding to reports of a man causing a disturbance at a gas station determined that he matched the description of the woman's attacker. Read more...

Denver Broncos defensive end Elvis Dumervil has been charged with aggravated assault with a firearm in Florida. Court records show the 28-year-old is facing the third-degree felony charge in Miami-Dade County. Det. Teen Assault Suspect Surrenders in New York State

A 17-year-old accused of using a Ford-150 pickup to run over another youth after a fight has surrendered to authorities, the Paulding County Sheriff's Office said. Diante Andre Rosado surrendered to authorities in Beacon, N.Y. over the weekend, according to Cpl. Ashley Henson. He is facing a felony aggravated assault charge in Paulding County. On July 1, Rosado and a 15-year-old boy got into a fight on Hope Drive in the Twelve Oaks Subdivision off East Paulding Drive, Henson said. Witnesses told deputies that when the fight was over, Rosado got into the truck and ran over the other teen before leaving the area. Read more...

Minnesota Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson was arrested on a charge of resisting arrest in Houston. Peterson was released from jail on a $1,000 bond and is due in court July 13. Police said it took three officers to subdue Peterson after he had pushed an officer at a nightclub. Anthony Bennett was sitting on a couch in his Dallas home Saturday when he heard a car pull up and someone open fire. Police say the more than 30 bullets that ripped through the home came from an assault rifle. The rounds flew through the window, the side of the house and even pierced Bennett's car radiator. Authorities say an employee at a fast-food drive-thru window in Southern California stabbed a customer after a dispute over his order. The man complained about his order to 28-year-old Gabriel Villalba, who worked at Del Taco in Hemet. The confrontation escalated until Villalba stabbed the customer in the abdomen with a knife. Teen Guilty of Battery in Flame Attack

A Florida teenager was convicted Tuesday of aggravated battery in a horrific 2009 attack on a middle school classmate who was drenched in rubbing alcohol and set on fire. Matthew "Zeke" Bent was accused of orchestrating the attack on Michael Brewer and charged with second-degree murder. Judge Sets October Trial for FAMU Hazing Suspects

A judge has set an October trial date for 11 people charged with felony hazing in the death of a Florida A&M drum major. An attorney for one of the people says the trial likely won't start until next year, though, because of the number of defendants and witnesses who need to be interviewed. Circuit Judge Marc Lubet set the Oct. 8 date during an arraignment. Only defendant Shawn Turner was in court because he had not hired an attorney. He was appointed a public defender. Read more...

Shoplifting Suspect Dies While Detained at WalMart

Police say a suspected shoplifter died at a Southern California Walmart store after a fight with store security workers who caught him in the parking lot. Covina police Lt. Holly Francisco says when police arrived they found the suspect, who had attempted to steal clothing and body wash, restrained by store security and appearing to need medical help. Woman, Baby Survive After She Was Set on Fire

A pregnant Michigan woman and her unborn child miraculously survived a brutal attack where the mother was set on fire and then shot in the back, MyFoxDetroit reports. The 22-year-old woman, who was not named by police, was reportedly grabbed from behind by an unknown assailant. The attacker bound her hands and feet with duct tape, forced her into her car and drove her to Detroit. The attacker then stopped in a vacant lot, doused the woman with lighter fluid, and lit her on fire. She was also shot in the back. Read more...

6 Arrested for Torturing Roommate

Six people in Utah who allegedly tortured their roommate for hours -- including stapling his lips together and drilling him with a power tool -- have been arrested. Jennifer Moses, 30, Lee Carl Moses, 26, David Masters, 55, Paula Masters, 43, Brandon Haggard, 20, and Tracy Jordan, 45, allegedly kidnapped Thomas Chapman, 41. According to police, the six -- who all live in the same house in Magna, west of Salt Lake City -- took Chapman at gunpoint to the basement and handcuffed him, bound his feet with tape and tortured him. Pastor Marvin Winans Assaulted, Carjacked

Popular Detroit pastor and gospel singer Marvin Winans has been assaulted and carjacked at a gas station on the city's west side. Detroit police say the suspects fled in Winans' SUV after taking an unknown amount of money. The 54-year-old minister said four or five young men followed him from inside the gas station and attacked him while he pumped gas into his vehicle. Read more...

Vikings running back Caleb King, a rookie who spent most of last season on the practice squad, was arrested in Minnesota on suspicion of committing assault in the third degree that might have left a 22-year-old man with a serious brain injury.
