Robbers Butt Dial 911 During Break-In
Two suspects arrested for breaking into a car in Central California accidentally called 911 on a cellphone, which led police to them. A dispatcher was able to hear a rambling 35-minute conversation between the men as they discussed buying drugs and what implements to use to break into vehicles in Fresno. The dispatcher listened in as the suspects smashed a car's window and found prescription drugs. Read more...

Juror Jailed for Texting During Trial
A judge in Oregon noticed an unexpected glow on a juror's chest while the courtroom lights were dimmed during video evidence in an armed-robbery trial. The juror, it seemed, was texting. Marion County Circuit Judge Dennis Graves cleared the courtroom and excused all jurors except 26-year-old Benjamin Kohler. According to a news release from the Marion County Sheriff's Office, Kohler had no explanation for his actions. Read more...

Woman Arrested for April Fool's Prank
A Virginia woman who falsely reported a Monday morning robbery at a Waffle House as an April Fools' Day prank has been arrested by police. Susan Alexandria Tinker, 20, an employee at a Hampton, Va., branch of the Waffle House chain, allegedly called local authorities just before 6 a.m. Monday and claimed the restaurant was raided by robbers five minutes earlier, Hampton Police Division Cpl. Waitress Shown Her Own Stolen I.D.
A Colorado waitress checking to see if a female patron was legally old enough to drink was handed her own stolen driver's license. Brianna Priddy, of Lakewood, pretended nothing was wrong when the unidentified customer presented her with the license. "I don't know how I kept it cool. Burgler Leaves His Picture at Scene
A Santa Cruz man was arrested over the weekend after he allegedly left a camera containing a picture of himself at the scene of a burglary, police said. Officers responded to reports that two businesses in the 800 block of Pacific Avenue had been broken into through their back doors, according to Santa Cruz police. Both businesses — Santa Cruz Glass and Kayber Pass Restaurant — were ransacked, and one had more than $170 stolen from a cash register, police said. Read more...

Two Teens Arrested After Fight Video
A 14-year-old and a 16-year-old were arrested Thursday for their role in a fistfight that was captured on video and placed online, Kissimmee police said. The brawl occurred Feb. 6 near Kissimmee Middle School. The 14-year-old boy attends Kissimmee Middle School. He was arrested about 8:30 a.m., just before classes started for the day. Investigators say a South Carolina teen offered to pay his friends $5,000 to kill the grandparents who raised him because they were too strict. Chester County Sheriff's Maj. Bill Murphy said 17-year-old Clayton Watts waited with two friends for his grandparents to come home Tuesday evening, then ambushed 59-year-old Jimmie Paul and killed her with three gunshots in the chest. Woman Arrested in Dead Baby Hoax
A 21-year-old woman is charged with making a false statement to police after starting a rumor that she found a dead baby in the trash. Montezuma police say Alexis Boland was on her way to work at a dollar store and saw a baby doll in a trash bin. Boland told police she thought it would be funny to play a joke on a co-worker and say she saw a dead baby. Police say customers overheard Boland telling her co-worker the story and calls began flooding the department. Read more...

2 Teens, 12-Year-Old Charged in Murder
Two teenagers and a 12-year-old girl have been charged in the shooting death of a North Carolina man during a carjacking. Investigators say the three approached 35-year-old Johnny Danilo Villatoro of Durham on Friday night and asked him for a ride before carjacking and shooting him. Authorities found Villatoro lying in the street, and he later died at a hospital. Police say the 12-year-old suspect accidentally shot herself in the stomach and leg while inside Villatoro's car. Man Charged With Texting While Driving
An eastern Utah man was charged Wednesday with hitting and killing a Vernal teenager with his car while texting behind the wheel. Jeffery Bascom, 28, of Jensen, was charged in 8th District Court with automobile homicide involving the use of a hand-held wireless communication device while driving, a second-degree felony, as well as obstruction of justice, a third-degree felony. Robber Complaints Bank Shortchanged Him
Going back to a bank you just ripped off to claim you'd been shortchanged isn't likely to end well. That's what police say led to an arrest in upstate New York. Syracuse police say 28-year-old Arthur Bundrage, of East Syracuse, went into a bank at about 9 a.m. and demanded $20,000. Authorities say a teller initially refused, but relented and gave him some money, even though he never showed a weapon or made a threat. Read more...

Man Arrested in LSU Bomb Threat Case
A man has been arrested in connection with a bomb threat that led to the evacuation of Louisiana State University, but he does not appear to be linked to recent threats against other universities, school police said. William Bouvay, 42, of Baton Rouge, was arrested late on Tuesday on charges of communicating false information of a planned bombing, the university police said. Mom Charged for Helping Teen Vandals
A North Texas woman has been charged in an alleged neighborhood prank using raw chicken, mustard and peanut butter to cause $6,000 in damage. Tara Mauney of Colleyville has been charged with felony criminal mischief in the July incident. She's free on $7,500 bond. The 41-year-old woman allegedly helped several middle school students buy toilet paper to litter a residence where some girls were having a sleepover. Woman Pulls Gun on Man During Sex in Moving Car
A Florida woman who allegedly pulled a gun on a man during sex and demanded money, causing him to lose control of his moving car, was arrested, police said. The woman, Amanda Jean Linscott, 26, fled the scene on foot after the vehicle struck a palm tree, went airborne and plowed through two front yards, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office in Port Charlotte, Fla. Man Tries to Buy Beer With Bartender's Credit Card
A homeless man broke into a car in Miami Beach, stole a credit card belonging to a bartender and tried to use it to buy a beer from the victim, police said. Miami Beach Police said David Weber, 53, walked into the Clevelander Bar on Ocean Drive in South Beach and handed Bradley Fuller a credit card, which Fuller determined was his own. Murder Suspect Kills Self After Stealing Plane
A pilot suspected of murdering his girlfriend stole a passenger plane at an airport in Utah, taxied it into a parking lot, then shot himself dead on board, police and officials said. A man has been ordered to pay more than $32,000 in back child support after being lured back to Pennsylvania with the promise of a bogus role in a Jennifer Aniston movie. Joshua Garlathy pleaded guilty Tuesday to willful failure to pay child support more than a month after he was arrested after his flight from Hawaii landed in Philadelphia. A woman who robbed the same liquor store three times in less than 24 hours was arrested at her home in Fall River, Mass., police said. Latasha Singletary, 30, is charged with two counts of armed robbery and one count of robbery while masked. Trapped Bank Robber Cut From Air Duct
A wig-wearing man broke into a suburban Chicago bank vault and nearly made off with $100,000 but got stuck in an air duct and had to be cut out hours later, authorities said. Charles Estell, 38, was found hiding in an air duct in an office next to the bank, according to Oak Lawn police spokesman Michael Kaufmann. An 18-year-old Utah man was arrested on suspicion of burglary after police say he left his homework at the crime scene. Police in Orem say they tracked a USB drive found at the burglarized home to Dallas Naljahih. They say the computer hard drive contained his homework and was in a backpack abandoned in the backyard. A Greenbrier man is charged with vehicular homicide in the death of his own wife after he and another driver sparred with their pickup trucks during a possible bout of road rage on a Good-lettsville highway. Charles Myres, 45, and Justin Bennett, 32, have been charged with vehicular homicide and two counts of aggravated assault in the March 23 death of Sharon Myres and injury of two others. 'Sausage Rage' Cited in 7-Eleven Attack
Police in southern New Jersey say a woman began attacking a 7-Eleven employee when she found out the store did not have any sausages. An officer responding to a panic alarm said that as he began to enter the store, he saw the suspect, Brittany Glanville, trying to climb over the counter to go after the clerk, Chief Mark Ott told the paper. Glanville, 25, was immediately arrested and put in the officer's patrol car, where she tried to kick out the vehicle's windows. A Kentucky woman was arrested after allegedly punching her son in the face during her anger management class. Misty Lawson, 30, of Louisville, was taking the class when police say she punched the 10-year-old boy several times in the face and body, according to the station. Teens Attacking Man, 65, Get Surprise
A 65-year-old man who was knocked off his bicycle by three teenagers on a Pennsylvania trail shot two of them, killing one, police said according to reports. The wounded teen, 16, was taken to hospital and the third, aged 15, was taken in for questioning and was later committed to a youth center. According to police, the 65-year-old was riding his bicycle when the teens knocked him to the ground, the station said. Police said two teens then assaulted the man, who drew his gun and shot them.
